5 Reasons Why Steemit is an Artist’s Dream Come True!

in #creativity7 years ago (edited)

I came here as an artist who is always making content that I’m not paid for. That is, until I found steemit: a platform that pays for high-quality content. What a revolutionary concept!

After a few great weeks here, I can confidently say, this is a great platform for creatives! Why? Here are 5 ways steemit will help you build your practice (and maybe make your dreams come true!):

1) You already make content and share it. Now you can get paid!

Artists make things. Creation is what we do. If you’re trying to profit from your art, you're already putting your work out into the world on social media. You might even pay out of pocket to promote it. Steemit changes all that. Every time you post here you make money that turns into long (or short) term capacity for your business. That’s not just cool, it’s also smart and going to change the way artists raise funds for their work!

2) You already have a brand and a point of view. Use it.

If you’re an artist with aspirations of making a living off your work, you’re developing a brand and clear vision for your work. That brand and vision can translate directly onto your steemit account. I see a lot of new accounts here struggling to find a point of view--you already have one. Use it to your advantage! Also, if you’re a more serious artist, I know for a fact that you have high-quality photos, videos, and other records of your work. High-quality content pays here because adding value benefits us all (and sadly there is a lot of spam out there)! Even $1.00 SBD per post is great money if you were getting $0.00 before!

3) You have experience working on a crowdsourced fundraiser.

Sometimes I feel like nowadays art is powered by Kickstarter and its cousins! Did you know that 1/3 of all online donations come in via crowdsourcing campaigns? If you’re an artist I bet you’ve either run one of these campaigns, or participated in one! You probably already know the game of organizing a community, promoting the campaign, and incentivizing engagement. Hey--that sounds a lot like how people maximize their steemit impact! If you have this experience, leverage it here. Steemit is crowdsourcing for the future!

4) You can be paid to show work-in-progress and receive feedback!

Most of the time we are focused on the final product that we will present to our audience. For many of us, that is the only window into the process we are able to provide to the general public. With steemit that has changed. Here you can share your works in progress, garner feedback, and earn monetary rewards to boot. People will pay you to give feedback, and to feel like they’re getting an inside glimpse into an artist’s life. That’s crazy. Crazy awesome.

5) You can engage and network with a global community!

There is no such thing as too big of an audience for your work. On steemit you can significantly expand your networks, especially if you live or work in an area that has fewer resources or collaborators for you to partner with. Also, if you’re an artist interested in international opportunities, this could be an incredible place to network with other creatives all over the globe!

Hi friend! Thanks for stopping by, I’m really glad you’re here!

I’m an artist, writer, and creative consultant based in the Pacific Northwest. I see steemit as an incredible asset to artists and creatives as a way to share their work and connect with like-minded people. You can check out my intro post, read more about the theatre projects I work on, or follow me! I’m especially interested in finding other performing artists on this site. If that’s you, please say hello! See you around the steemosphere! @lilyraabe

yes to all of this! I recently found Steemit and realized the potential it has both as a platform, but also in providing me a place to share my work and potentially get paid! Happy I found you, come take a visit to my blog... I'm a fellow creative in the Upper Left too :)

Awesome! I see from your profile that you’ve found @natureofbeing too! She and I are trying to get some meet-ups scheduled in Seattle/PDX in the next month or two (she has one this Saturday that I can’t attend). Would love to have you pop in to one of those if you ever can. :)

Just getting started on steemit, and it's all a bit overwhelming, but reading posts like this is really helping to get into it all. Thanks!

this post was given a resteem under resteem services

Wonderful post! You made some really good points here. Resteemed :)

Oh thank you so much! :)

Hello, I'm Oatmeal Joey, and your third point is so important. Crowd funding is so elevating in so many ways. Beyond that, my favorite point you made was the 4th point, that ongoing feedback helps in the edits, he rough drafts, the journey, the adventure, through storms towards rainbows, and it helps people and points 3 and 4 go together like peas in a pod and that is key. People are likely to fund more as they are able to interact more in the process that projects and life is subjected to. Not everybody can be an author, perhaps..... but Steem helps us all, especially if we are lacking a lot of friends, family, others, who can help us in writing books, in other kinds of projects as well.

Yesss! Steemit is all about rewarding process and positive growth. If you’re committed to getting better and better it seems the sky is the limit here. :)

Indeed, I've been so happy to receive payment, even if still very small right now, for each post I make =) ... The work-in-progress point is an important one that I haven't really taken into consideration... Must try remember to save screenshots as I work for this!

Btw, Lily, did you ever read the comments that @insideoutlet and I were making about you? ;P We thought you might see them since we tagged you but perhaps you don't have @ginabot? =)

I don’t use @ginabot! Now I want to know, haha. Where and what?

And as for work-in-progress posts--what the nut, getting paid to just post pictures of what you’re working on?! It’s almost like making a wage for what you’re doing, even if on a small level!

lol... You should really get Ginabot! ... It's so very useful. I don't think I could do Steemit without her now.

And yeah! Amateur artists getting paid to work!? What a concept. lol.

We tagged you because we were talking about an idea for a collaboration between us three:
I start a story, only 2 or three paragraphs.
In a new post, @insideoutlet continues the story... Another 2 or 3 paragraphs.
And then you continue it, again, only a few paragraphs.
Then it circles back to me.
We do maybe 3 or 4 rounds before ending the story (or else just let it end whenever it feels like it is ending naturally).
Just something cool to experiment with =) What you think?

Oh sweet, that sounds really awesome. If you two have ideas pop ‘em my way and I think I’d definitely be interested. I’m really busy through the first weekend in March but then have a little more time. :)

Oh, there's not much more to pop your way actually - the idea is that. I'll start a story, Erin continues, you continue on hers, and so we go =) Just needed to know if you were willing =)

And don't worry about the time - it's really supposed to be 3 paragraphs each post max., with no 'hand in' date either. With three of us writing, we'd probably each only have to write once a week or so.

But ok - I'll start it next Saturday (March the 3rd). Coolbeans!

Sounds awesome, fun times! :)

#4 for the win! Thanks.

Yes Steemit is a life changer, for me I really like to share knowledge and skills, it's so good to have such creativity on here, to have so many people who wish to be part of the change to make their lives and others much better. The potential is huge and I am so happy to be part of it x

Yessss! I can’t quite believe it really exists, haha.

I just gotta keep driving home what an amazing asset this site can be for creatives. Now go out there and light the world on fire my artistic friends! <3
