Teenage pregnancy and educating the girl child

I have read nice articles and speeches full of bright ideas and solutions that tackles the problems of the girl child and kicking against teenage pregnancy. These articles tried to discourage teenage sex, highlighting the dangers there in but I noticed something was amidst; either ignorantly or knowingly- the teenage girl was painted as being vulnerable, naïve and pliable. I believe these articles seek to address girls within the age limit of 12 to 18; these are the teenage girls , most of which are still in senior secondary school, while some are either trying to gain admission in higher institutions or are fresher’s at higher institutions

Reading those articles, I began to see areas where the articles stumbled and where it needed adjustment. Its either the writers were narrow minded or they were trying so hard to pass out the wrong message. They made the teenage girl look blameless and callow; like they were victims of machismo. The truth as it was not represented in those articles was that most of these girls are eager to experiment with sex. They are far more adventurous than we would want to accept. Some of them have been active in so much sexcapades that the experience they have garnered will make a full grown adult flush. What the writers of those articles failed to understand is that something’s are just natural.

At this authoring age that makes the world a global village, several moral values are being lost and being aped with ongoing once that is now widely accepted. The teenage girl is influenced by lot of factors; peer group and the need to feel belonged. They should have understood that the teenage girl loves to feel among and follow the trend as it comes. She wants to be beheld and acknowledge as a happening girl. They feel the need to practice what they see, read and learn around them. I quite agree with them on the call to prevent teenage sex but if we are willing to stop teenage pregnancy, spread of HIV and encourage girl child education, then we should preach safe sex.
It’s time we tell ourselves the truth and stop being discursive.
