Virat Kohli is considered to be the deserving Succeeded by Sachin Tendulkar. According to cricket experts, Kohli is the most likely to surpass Sachin Tendulkar in the record of current world players. But the statistics are thinking in another way. English batsman Alastair Cook can not be Sachin, Sachin can put his Test record in jeopardy!
33 years ago, Cook has already played 151 Tests for England. In this format, he is the country's highest run-scorer with 11,816 runs. Cook has been 32 centuries in a decade's Test career. His strike rate and form said, the opener's most likely to break Sachin's record.
Sachin has scored 15,921 runs in 200 Tests at an average of 53.78. Century 51 Cook has scored 11,572 runs at 45.57 in 151th Test. Century 32
The record that Cook has done for England is one:
- One calendar year has 1,000 runs
- Centuries in his first Test against India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and West Indies.
- England played 151 Tests for the most.
- He captained 55 Tests for most England captains.
- He has scored 7000, 8000, 9000, 10,000 and 11,000 runs as the youngest batsman.
- Tenth place in the list of highest centuries in Test history with 32 centuries.
- Steve Smith is one of the closest batsmen in Test playing nations, with 22 centuries.
- Cook is at the eighth place in the list of highest run-getters in Tests.
Only 33 years old, if he can retain the performance and the form of the Test number or runs, Cook will be overtaking Kohli before Kohli in the Century.
Cook will need four good years of Test cricket to go past Tendulkar. I would be very surprised if he does.
