Tymal Mills overlooked for Australia tour for his own benefit, reveals Eoin Morgan

England speedster Tymal Mills, who was once a hot property in the Twenty20 circuit, has been limited to sporadic appearances, of late. The Sussex seamer, with his blend of searing left-arm pace and slower balls, made a grand foray after earning himself a life-changing £1.4 million deal in the Indian Premier League. But the 25-year-old, who is restricted to playing only shortest form due to a congenital back condition, is currently at a crossroads.

After landing a bumper payday with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2017, he failed to garner any bids in last month’s IPL draft. He suffered a further setback when he was dropped by Hobart Hurricanes for the semi-final and final of BBL|07. Though, he arrived in Tasmania as a marquee overseas signing but was axed after conceding the most runs in the competition, leaking 389 at almost 10 an over.

However, England skipper Eoin Morgan insists England have not forgotten about Tymal Mills and overlooked him in Australia for his own good. With just four England caps under his belt, Mills will need to find more game time if he fancies playing in the 2020 T20 World Cup.
