It was a tough decision to leave him out but that's what you do when the selection doors don't open for you - you break the doors down with the sheer strength of your domestic runs. Good also to see Shaun Marsh score a few today as well.

He's a match winner on his day but unfortunately not a consistent cricketer, Marsh neither by the way. Both are among the best to watch in full flight though. Good contest early in the series too, should be a good ashes series!
Absolutely, the lack of consistency among some of the Australian batsmen is in sharp contrast to what was on offer during their years at the top.
Yes but it was a freakish era then: Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist, Ponting, Hayden, Waugh etc etc etc.
In a weird way it's almost more enjoyable now as its more unpredictable and there are many more close contests. Early stages but thIs ashes look as though they'll be close too.
