Bangladesh are amongst the flow of T20I cricket and the Tigers are savouring the chance to further hone their experience in the shortest form of the game when they come up against an Afghanistan side rich in talent and fast gaining reputation as a strong side.
Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim had a fantastic outing in the recently concluded Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka and his form in the T20 format has been thriving ofl ate.
In his last seven T20 innings, the batsman managed 271 runs at an average of 67.75 with three fifties to his name – an incredible improvement in T20 fortunes given that he has an overall average of 21.08 in T20Is. Judging by Mushfiqur’s words, he is wrangling his hands to play more T20 matches.
“It’s significant that we are amongst the flow in T20 cricket. A lot of the times there is a big break after we play a T20 series. We played a T20 series just two and a half months earlier, so for us this is a back-to-back series.,” he commented.
He singled out Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman as players who could make a mark in a ‘dangerous’ Afghan side.
“They are a dangerous side in T20’s. There aren’t too many opportunities to look to play the bowlers based on the merit of the ball. So we have to plan so that we can score runs by taking risks.
“Not only Rashid Khan, but Mujeeb also bowls with the new ball. Rashid Khan is a world class bowler and except one match no one has been able to score more than six or seven an over off him.
“So I feel that it will be challenging,” Mushfiqur concluded.
