It was yet another show of exquisite batsmanship from Virat Kohli as he hit his 34th ODI ton, scoring an unbeaten 160 in the third ODI against South Africa in Cape Town.
This is the highest score by an Indian batsman in South Africa. He overtook Tendulkar’s 152 against Namibia in 2003.
Kohli also became the 2nd opposition captain to score 150 runs in South Africa. The 1st being Ricky Ponting in 2006 at Johannesburg.
Skipper also completed his 1000 runs against South Africa.
This is also his 54th International century where he will be the outright 5th-most prolific century-maker in international cricket behind Tendulkar (100), Ponting (71), Sangakkara (63) & Kallis (62). He is currently level with Mahela Jayawardene and Hashim Amla.
With just three matches played in the ODI series, Kohli also has the highest number of runs by an Indian captain in a bilateral series in South Africa.
Australian batsman David Warner too heaped praise on Kohli saying, He’s on a different level this bloke wow. What a player 🙏🙏👍👍🏏🏏
