Encontré un pavimento negro, hecho de galletas de chocolate, es un mundo extraño, de cielo blanco, claro como el oleaje del mar Atlántico. En noviembre llueve, deberían crecer plantas verdes, sin embargo, la lluvia crea sombras y aparecen extrañas formas. Las nubes no dejan caer el agua, saben que se perdería en la bajada, por eso descienden con ella, dejando el pavimento cubierto de niebla.
Cuando la niebla se marcha, a buscar una estrella pálida, deja manchas en el pavimento, de color claro como su cuerpo. Formas agraciadas, parece una mujer blanca, cuando el sol salga, se evaporará la sombra creada.
I found a black pavement, made of chocolate cookies, it's a strange world, with a white sky, clear as the waves of the Atlantic sea. In November it rains, green plants should grow, however, the rain creates shadows and strange shapes appear. Parece una mujer bella, o quizá muy fea, de repente se levanta, dejando ver su palidez exagerada. Un rostro deforme, con tres lunares de oscuros colores, la nariz es de finas rayas y siempre lleva una sonrisa camuflada. Un gato dibujado en su suéter blanco, una falda de contrastes encantados, zapatos negros con plumas y ojos de botones con textura. Cabello largo, peinado en dos lados, es la dama del pavimento, que viene desde el suelo.
It seems that a beautiful woman, or very very ugly, suddenly gets up, leaving behind her exaggerated pallor. A distorted face, with three moles of dark colors, nose and stripes and always with a camouflaged smile. A cat drawn in his white sweater, a skirt of enchanted contrasts, black shoes with feathers and eyes of buttons. The long hair, combed on both sides, is the lady of the pavement, which comes from the ground.
La dama del pavimento se levanta, deja lo que la mantiene al suelo pegada, ella quiere disfrutar las fiestas y sabe que en San Juan de Pasto los carnavales están cerca. Baila y baila, contonea su cabello con gracia, el gato de su suéter dice miau-miau, ella esta feliz de estar acá. Muchos años espero en el pavimento, ahora está libre del frío suelo, seguramente recorrerá San Juan de Pasto y hablará con los transeúntes que encuentre a su paso.
The woman gets up, leaves what keeps her on the ground, wants to enjoy the holidays and knows that in San Juan de Pasto the carnivals are close. La dama del pavimento, es un nuevo personaje, que viene a acompañar al Arlequín este fin de año y a contarnos sobre el Carnaval y todas las actividades culturales que ocurren en San Juan de Pasto. Decidí hacerla en estos colores, como homenaje al Carnaval de Negros y Blancos, que se celebra del 3 al 6 de enero. Su cara tiene una forma diferente, porque le crecieron tres lunares que le estiraron la piel, los cuales representan la ceniza del volcán Galeras (la ciudad esta construida en las faldas de este volcán). Su nariz no es lineal, son costuras desiguales, que significan los pasos de los danzantes del carnaval, personas muy importantes en estos eventos, que llenan con sus trajes y baile, las calles de alegría.
The lady of the pavement, is a new character, who comes to accompany the Harlequin this end of the year and tells us about the Carnival and all the cultural activities that take place in San Juan de Pasto. Pompones brillantes, adornan su cabello abundante, representan el pacífico de Nariño, que está en el olvido.pero si lo iluminamos, quizá la paz regrese a este territorio marginado.
