Why were Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed?.
The most honest at the intellectual and hermeneutical level is to continue clinging to the traditional evangelical stance: Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by sexual immorality.

- They were destroyed because they did not take care of the poor. The first reason proposed by the Queer theology is that the Sodomites were destroyed because they did not take care of the poor. Here they appeal to the writings of Ezekiel. Ezekiel explains the reason why Sodom was destroyed: "As I live, says the Lord, Sodom your sister and her children have not done as you and your daughters did. Behold, this was the wickedness of Sodom your sister: pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness had she and her daughters; and he did not strengthen the hand of the afflicted and the needy "(Ezekiel 16:49). Biblically speaking, it is true that God destroyed the city of Sodom by not caring for the poor (among a few other things). However, it is important to continue reading until the next verse to get the full truth.
- They were destroyed because they wanted to rape as a group. The second reason offered by gay theology is that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because they wanted to rape as a group. Now, this reason is not as strong as the first because it is not found in the Bible. It's something that the gay community has invented. Evidently God is against group rape. Up there we all agree. But this does not mean that God agrees with homosexual activity. And anyway, God wanted to destroy the cities because of his continued evil; not for a single act of rape (Genesis 18:20 and 2 Peter 2: 8).
Sodom and Gomorrah were not destroyed by not caring for the poor, but by committing an abomination that corresponds to homosexual sin named in Leviticus. Sodom and Gomorrah were not destroyed because they wanted to rape as a group but because their sin was continuous and constant; God did not judge them for a single isolated act. I was thinking about destroying the city even before the attempt to rape. Sodom and Gomorrah were not destroyed because of lack of hospitality because their sin was extremely severe and the rest of the Bible makes clear that it was a matter of homosexuality.
For the reasons explained above it would be much more honest at the intellectual and hermeneutical level to continue to cling to the traditional evangelical stance, that is, that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by sexual immorality.
