The basic principle of effective solution of environmental and energy issues (eco-friendly energy sources) is combustion. The main part of the production method is thermo chemical transformation delivered by combustion of materials being processed. Hence, successful solution of the problems hinge on the quality of combustion.
The environmental crisis of the 20th century, gradual reduction of high quality charge stock that forced producers switch to low-grade stock, and international environmental regulations clampdown revealed diminished performance of traditional approaches and methods. (First-priority problems in oil industry are specified in memorandum from OAO NK Rosneft: https://www.rosneft.ru/press/news/item/177035)
Significant time and financial investments into improvement of traditional methods proved to be costly, difficult to apply in practice and not effective.
Principally new way of plasmachemical treatment(> 4000оС) also was not implemented because of its expensiveness and operation complexity.
A newly created type of high-speed and high-temperature combustion (transonic combustion) has already proved its efficiency and became epoch-making in solution to the problems of eco-friendly energetics. This technology is patent-protected in the Russian Federation and in some countries (India, China and others) and was listed in the United Nations "Survey of Currently Available Non-Incineration PCB Destruction Technologies" under the original name of "Papusha Rocket Technology" (PRT).
Leading edge characteristics of PRT such as stability, consistency, adjustability, controllability etc., provide principally new opportunities in dealing with first-priority issues of oil industry (80% of such issues is being solved with help of PRT on a whole new level).
In the 1990s, the development went through all the stages of scientific, research, design, experimental and technological process and was fragmentarily brought to the industrial introduction. The entire range of neutralized substances developed a record - high level of environmental safety - 99.9999%, which is expressed in combustion efficiency rate in energy studies and reduction and removal efficiency rate in environmental studies.
Unique and specific experience of design developments, primarily in the field of rocket and space equipment and aircraft engineering served as a design base of the project. A special place belongs to the experimental experience in conducting research and supporting the industrial introduction.
Industrial introduction of PRT as a stationary complex for neutralizing transformer oils of POPs category of the I-st hazard class under the jurisdiction of the Stockholm Convention was carried out at one of the largest metallurgical plants in Europe, OAO Severstal (Cherepovets city). The as-built drawing of the unit is simplified, available technical means of the facility are used to the full without disturbing main production cycle. Capital costs for creation of the unit turned out to be hundreds of times lower, compared to foreign industrial counterparts. The cost of neutralizing one ton of transformer oil is in multiples of established international rates.
A further step in practical implementation of PRT was a fundamentally new mobile complex for neutralizing a wide range of special formulations of highly toxic substances that was successfully tested during the period 2002-2005 at the military training ground in Shikhany, the Saratov Region. 37 special formulations were neutralized in the field during the testing of the mobile complex located in a 40-foot container. A record-high level of environmental safety has been recorded for the entire range of detoxified substances, expressed by reduction and removal efficiency rate of 99.9999%.
Based on the experience of industrial introduction of PRT in the field of destruction of super toxicants, where the level of the world's highest achievements was recorded or exceeded by ecological, economic and operational indicators, it can be stated with certainty that the capital costs for creating the unit and operating costs will be tens of times lower than in foreign industrial counterparts.
The overall design of the PRT-2 is fundamentally different from traditional technical solutions. Due to high speeds of the working process flow ( 1000 m/s) the overall size of the unitis substantially smaller, and the actuating elements become compact.
Approximate selling price of the finished PRT-2 unit ranges from $950,000.00 to $2,500,000.00 depending on the performance and configuration. The cost price for mass production is $400,000.00 - 700,000.00 depending on the performance and additional parameters. Technical implementation of actuating elements is carried out on the basis of high-tech products of rocket and space and aircraft industry.
Time of manufacture of dedicated equipment (high-temperature gas generator, reaction chamber, synthesis unit, etc.) does not exceed 1 month.
