বঙ্গবন্ধু আন্তর্জাতিক সম্মেলন কেন্দ্রের হল অব ফেম মিলনায়তনে যখন জাতীয় চলচ্চিত্র পুরস্কার প্রদান অনুষ্ঠান চলছিল, তখন বসুন্ধরা আবাসিক এলাকার বাসায় সুচন্দা কাঁদছিলেন। মনের দুঃখে ডুকরে কাঁদছিলেন তিনি। সুচন্দার কান্নার খবরটি জানা যায় তাঁর ছোট দুই বোন বরেণ্য অভিনয়শিল্পী ববিতা ও চম্পার সঙ্গে কথা হলে। চলচ্চিত্রের এই দুই গুণীর সঙ্গে কথা শেষ করেই সুচন্দাকে ফোন করতেই প্রতিবেদককে বললেন, ‘আমার মনটা খুবই খারাপ। অনেক খারাপ। আনন্দের পাশাপাশি দুঃখ পেয়েছি। কষ্ট পেয়েছি।’
