Hello all,
please note that our December event at Wayra moved to one day later, to Thursday, the 22nd of December, due to scheduling conflicts of our speaker Rupert.

This time will be all about paper wallets.
Paper Wallets Workshop
Did you know you can print your bitcoins on paper and store them safely offline that way? Also holiday season is near, so we'll have an introduction talk and workshop about paper wallets, which make an original and unusual Christmas gift as well.
Apart from that, far beyond the use in Bitcoin and crypto-currencies, the concept of private and public keys, as depicted on such a paper wallet, may become more and more pervasive in the future in general. Passwords seem to be unsafe, as users forget them or pick too easy ones. And no matter what certain big hardware and OS manufacturers try to tell you, biometric identification like face or fingerprint recognition is unsafe as well and can easily be spoofed, as often demonstrated by ethical hackers.
So we'll take a look how secure (while hopefully still easy) identification and authentication may look in the future of a blockchain world. Maybe personal crypto-key management can and will some day become an intuitive habit in everyday life, just like we're used to handle our physical keys.
Target audience: Beginners
You're encouraged to bring your tablets or notebooks for this hands-on session! You should already own some bitcoins (or fractions), and have a wallet installed, e.g. Electrum.
