At last, a highly anticipated whitepaper for the zk-starks technology has been published. Being an alternative to the existing cryptography applied in the blockchain technology, it ensures high user confidentiality and data security.
The published whitepaper is authored by Eli-Ben Sasson, a professor at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, who has been researching this system for the better part of 15 years. It is based on ZK proofs, which allows information to be verified without revealing anything about the information. This would boost data security and system operational speed.
Currently, the k-stark protocol uses digital currencies Zcash and Monero advantageous for their high anonymity.
The whitepaper contains the technology operational principle and examples of its usage. The document also says that zk-snarks protocols are nowadays being investigated by many developers, including Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin. According to CoinDesk, anonymity and data security are one of the blockchain development trends emerged at the end of 2017 – the beginning of 2018.
