DDoSCoin
There is a new "star" in Crypto. A coin that will pay for helping in a DDoS attack. For now it is only theoretical yet.
But , It will not be very long when we will see this in the wild.
Here is how it will work.
In general it is not much different than your average crypto. The miners validate the transfer by checking the ledger to make sure the sender is not transferring money that is not there and then sealing it. By using crypto it is protected but also uses a lot of computer power.
For that you get a reward in crypto coins
A lot of this energy is really wasted on just keeping the network running. In the past we did have a few coins who tried it differently and use the power more usefull. GridCoin and PrimeCoin for example
This DDoSCoin is not much different that the 2 coins mentions above. A coin can only be mined / earned if the miners are taken part of a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks against a selected website.
In fact you get rewarded when you opening a large number of TLS connections to target web servers.
For now this only works on websites running TLS 1.2. But half of the top websites do support TLS 1.2. So a lot of targets.
"In modern versions of TLS, the server signs a client-provided parameter during the handshake, along with server-provided values used in the key exchange of the connection, allowing the client to prove that it has participated in the DDoS attack against the target server.
In this way, the new system will reward users who prove they have participated in a DDoS attack.
How to Setup DDoS Targets in DDoSCoin?
ddoscoin
If you want to set up a target for DDoS, you can use the PAY_TO_DDOS transaction that includes two arguments:
Domain of the victim website.
The number of TLS connections that need to be established.
These transactions are recorded as DDoSCoin blocks inside a database (or blockchain). Now, miners only need to select one of the blocks, launch attacks, and thus receive DDoSCoin as a reward for fulfilling the transaction.
Not without risk
After reading the reports i am not so sure if it is wise to be miner of this future coin. Beside the moral part of well doing a DDoS .
Websites could take legal actions against mining operations. Publishing a proof-of-DDoS block in the DDoSCoin blockchain could reveal a miner’s intent to attack a service for financial profit. If the victim can log their traffic, they can find the IP address of the party given a published proof-of-DDoS block.
«After reading the reports i am not so sure if it is wise to be miner of this future coin.»
Of course not. It's like getting paid to smash someones windows. Yes, you can participate in this, if you really believe this someone earns his or her windows to be smashed, but you got to live with the legal consequences eventually.
i was not on planning to DDoS anyone with or without coin ;-)
Good to hear. ;) :p
Whacky! It is something like, what will they think of next? Any other coins, that are weird, but more ethical?
