I was just in the USA trying to go fiat to crypto through a Bitcoin ATM. I was very shocked to find I could not unless I was verified. Currently in Canada, I have used a Bitcoin ATM and there was no verification needed other than a text to a phone which could have been easily avoided with a burner phone.
