I want to present you this innovative idea I discovered just couple days ago.
I wanna talk about Sia, the decentralized cloud storage.
Straight to the point:
Basically, you can rent people unutilised space on their disks and also host your unutilised space to people.
Before being upladed, Your file are distributed (segmented) between 30 hosts around the globe, these segment's are encrypted and to fully recover a file you need only 10 working nodes out of the 30 used.
For segmenting Sia uses Reed-Solomon erasure coding, and for encrypting is uses Twofish algorithm.
So this make Sia super secure and a proof of failure.
The renting and hosting is based on File Contracts:
You decide the price you want to pay and depending on it you get the size of how much you can rent with that money.
Or you can decide to be a host, in this case you decide how much space you want to rent at wich price, and also the price of the bandwidth.
For renting space you have to pre pay a fixed amount of Sia coin, and the contracts usually last 90 days.
Sia renew the contracts when they are near the expiration date, and if you decide to not renew the contract, all the unused coin will return to you.
Every payment is made using Sia coin.
It seems really a revolutionary idea, I have already buyed 500 coin (with wich I can rent 6TB/month).
This is a really amazing project and really promising, I hope I have helped somebody giving information about it.
Have a good day everybody
I do like Sia because the platform is really cheap to use.
Yes it is!! With only 1.50$ You can rent 1TB/Month.
And its waaay more secure than the other cloud storage
