Last month, G.M (General Motors) has announced in a press release that it will be releasing it's driverless cars very soon. Tesla, one of the reputed manufacturer of electric cars has already started testing its prototype of the self-driving car in selected US cities. Waymo (a subsidiary of Google's parent company named Alphabet Inc) and Uber ( #1 ridesharing service ) have joined the race as they have also started testing their models on public roads in some states of US.
What is an autonomous vehicle? Is it fully controlled by technology without the need for a physical driver? To understand it better, you need to know the different levels of automated driving based on the SAE standard which is given below.
Level 0 - Few warnings are generated automatically but the vehicle is fully controlled by a human driver.
Level 1 - Hands-On - This level is used by many drivers in the US while taking long road trips. In this level, steering is controlled by the driver whereas the speed is controlled by technology. A perfect example of this concept is ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control )
Level 2 - Hands off - The system takes full control of steering, brakes and accelerator. But, the driver should be able to take control in case if the system fails or not able to handle properly.
Level 3 - Eyes off - In addition to taking full control of the car, the system can also respond to any situation that requires immediate stop so that it doesn't need any help or support from the driver. But, the driver should be able to intervene if the system fails or needs some kind of support.
Level 4 - Mind off - This level works in the same way as level 3 except that it doesn't need any kind of support from the driver at all. The driver can simply take a nap or sit comfortably on the back side of the car.
Level 5 - No steering wheel - This level is 100 automated as it doesn't expect the presence of steering wheel in the car.
Top car manufacturers like G.M, Ford, Audi etc are spending billions of dollars to reach Level 3 automation. Audi, the leading manufacturer of luxury cars has claimed that their upcoming model Audi A8 Luxury Sedan will be the first commercial car to be fully compliant with Level 3.
Based on the above information, it is clearly understood that autonomous vehicles will be the beginning of the next generation transportation system. But, you cannot introduce a driverless car to the public unless the roads, maps, traffic signals etc are upgraded. Other things like traffic rules and regulations needs to be updated.
A non-profit organization named DAV, headquartered in Switzerland has thought about this concept and proactively took the first step by developing an innovative platform for connecting all the autonomous vehicles in a decentralized manner so that every user can buy or sell any service based on their need. Check out the link https://dav.network/whitepaper.pdf to learn more about the technology behind this platform.
Is this platform available for free? No. You need to hold the DAV tokens to access the platform. How to buy DAV tokens? To know that information, please visit https://dav.network/.
Let your self-driving car give rides to passengers when you’re not using it. Have your drone help with deliveries around town.
This is a great idea!
Very soon they will reach not only level 3, but level 5. In my opinion, this is both: good and bad. It's good because the "driver" can travel a long distance without getting tired of driving, not being a proper driver. And it's bad because there is the danger to be controlled by bad people who will produce accidents on purpose. If you saw "Fast and furious 8", there was a scene where the bad people took control of the cars and produced a lot of accidents to block the roads. I know this is just a movie right now, but will not be long till these things are going to be in the real life.
No wonder Switzerland has come up with a great and innovative idea like this. Considering the speed of changing things among technology, this is not a surprise, at some point we will see these self-driving cars around us, or we will seat inside of it. And to be honest, a self-driving car will be a great challenge for all of us, especially for the drivers :)) I just remembered something funny about this topic, something The Grand Tour said about self-driving cars. They said it would be interesting and fun to position yourself in front of a self-driving car while it's stopped, cause the functions of it would not let it move further in order to avoid a possible collision. Anyway, I bet we will all discuss more about this futuristic domain over the next years. Good project!
a great idea, just create a car that can take you from one point to another and complete safety and comfort.
As I see in the aftermath, a lot of automobile companies are engaged in the development of environmentally friendly transport along with an autopilot. In the near future, having an autopilot in the car will be a standard feature and this is a good future.
DAV, went the farthest and looks to the future, they create a platform on a decentralized system and bypass many competitors.
Thank you, excellent post
Thank you
I can not wait to take a ride in it! And it the self-driving car will look like the one from the pictures you posted, @danizaharie, even better. Still, since this is an innovative idea, I bet some people will not have the courage to explore it first. But why not be there at first, becoming a part of something innovative and huge. As for the project, I trust the company behind it, so I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Today's progress has reached such an extent that cars can now travel independently without driver participation. Even yesterday it seemed fantastic, no one would have believed it.
There are 5 fantastic levels that can surprise you:
-Hands-He - speed control
The system fully controls the steering, brakes and acceleration
Now all world manufacturers participate in the creation of this type of equipment.
The non-profit organization DAV, it's just a grogering company that will grow along with the whole concept. They have developed a decentralized innovation platform and now the buyer can buy or sell any service based on their needs.
This platform is not free, but it is completely progressive and meets the best innovative requirements.
Thanks, this is a good choice.
Its amazing the way technology is going these days and i dont think i will be in a car without a human driver but well, lets watch and see..
Give your self-driving auto a chance to give rides to travelers when you're not utilizing it. Have your automaton help with conveyances around town.
This is an incredible thought
I'm glad that I'm waiting for such a wonderful time, when we realize that progress is going on in our eyes. The cars that drive themselves, this is our present from which we can not escape. In the near future we will see also flying cars that will be able to deliver you at any time and in the shortest possible time.
On the car that drives without the driver's participation, you can solve important issues without opening yourself from personal affairs, while the risk of getting into an unpleasant situation is minimal.
It's great, especially since there's a decentralized DAV platform, which will take you to the future with the maximum comform.
Thank you, very informative post, now I know a little more
Good post!
sounds like the future is really interesting and is coming much faster than anyone expected , am sure tesla will be having so much competition from old companies in future
Definitely knew this was on its way pretty soon. I've actually been writing about it a fair bit since I work in the insurance industry. I think it will definitely be perfect for reducing accidents and what not, but I'm gonna miss driving...
i am shock to hear about driveless cars...how helpful could that be?
It's interesting to see how this will progress and how fast they will reach level 5! Being on level 3 soon is already a big achievement in this technology!
Man this stuff freaks me out so bad!!!
The thought of a self-driving car being hacked is very scary.

well information in bitcoin thanks for shearing
I would love to see this technology being used everywhere on a daily basis. If it is possible to reduce the human error effect on driving, then our roads would be safer for both passengers and pedestrians.
And it'll be kinda cool.
But I also know a few people who would be skeptical about this.
good post
Good post, I am a photographer, it passes for my blog and sees my content, I hope that it should be of your taste, you have my vote :D greetings
Smart contracts are deterministic exchange mechanisms controlled by digital means that can carry out the direct transaction of value between untrusted agents. They can be used to facilitate, verify, and enforce the negotiation or performance of economically-laden procedural instructions and potentially circumvent censorship, collusion, and counter-party risk. In Ethereum, smart contracts are treated as autonomous scripts or stateful decentralized applications that are stored in the Ethereum blockchain for later execution by the EVM. Instructions embedded in Ethereum contracts are paid for in ether (or more technically "gas") and can be implemented in a variety of Turing complete scripting languages.
