It is clear that the cryptocurrencies and the blockchain are here to stay, that is why different universities around the world have been adapting their curriculum and curriculum. Such is the case of the Technological Institute of Buenos Aires (ITBA) which announced that from March it will be offering a diploma related to the irruption of cryptocurrencies and associated technologies in the global economy.

The information was made known through some local media and through the official ITBA channels. The course called "Diploma in Cryptoeconomies: blockchain, smart contracts and cryptocurrencies" will be taught remotely by the Bachelor of Economics (U.B.A.) and author of the book Cryptoeconomies: Blockchain, Intelligent Contracts and Cryptocurrencies - An Introductory Guide, Nicolás Emanuel Collebechi.

This diploma will consist of a study plan with 18 topics focused on cryptocurrencies and the technology that supports them, along with other relevant topics. The modality will be online and the content will be covered in 12 classes that will be recorded and available for those who can not be connected at the stipulated time. The program will start on March 28 and end on June 13, 2018, but registrations are already open from the institution's website.

Some of the topics to be addressed in the cryptoeconomy diploma course will include an approach to the traditional international financial and monetary system, from its basic concepts such as decentralization, ICO (Initial Offer of Currency) and tokens, to regulatory frameworks and reflections on the perspectives to future of these financial tools. In essence, the study will offer participants the ability to analyze the current financial system compared to the new technological proposals.

The objective of the program aims to educate more people about the basic and technical knowledge of cryptocurrencies, since they are increasingly present in our finances and economy. Likewise, more and more people are interested in the use of this instrument as a form of investment, as well as in the benefits that these can generate.

Despite the vast number of cryptoactives that form this ecosystem (more than 1,300 and increasing) and the number of projects related to the blockchain, the attention of the general public is usually focused only on bitcoin. In relation to this, Collebechi commented in a note the following:

The course arises because you are seeing that there are a lot of industries that work with blockchain - financial, health, retirement, digital advertising, personal loans - but there is ignorance and fixation in bitcoin.

Nicolás Emanuel Collebechi
Professor and coordinator, ITBA

In this way, the institution indicates that the diploma is especially aimed at people who want to start in the aforementioned field and who start from zero knowledge or very general and basic ideas. Collebechi also commented to a local media that cryptoeconomics "is the sector of the future, involving aspects of cryptography, network theory, computer science and economic theory with which new technological tools can be created, which are currently changing to the world".

Of course, this Argentine institute is not the only one that has included an educational program in relation to the blockchain ecosystem and the cryptoactives. In fact, Argentina is recognized for having a large community involved in this ecosystem and in that line, a few months ago, began its first course of development and programming of intelligent contracts.

Also, many institutions and universities in the United States and the rest of the world have included programs, subjects, courses and even postgraduate programs focused on blockchain and cryptocurrencies; such as: Stanford, MIT, the University of Alcalá in Spain or the Technological Institute of Monterrey in Mexico.
