At last, the long anticipated Anarchapulco main conference has begun and the anarchists could not have been more excited. People from all over the world trickled in as the day went on filling up the conference hall at the Princess Imperial Mundo Hotel. Initially, walking into the giant lobby, you are blown away by its spectre and its megalithic Mayan impressions. As you walk through the hotel towards the beach you are smacked with the blazing sunny sky, the fresh ocean, and the stunning scale of the location.
Everyone was in disarray as Jeff Berwick’s (The Dollar Vigilante) opening speech was approaching at 10:00 am. Jeff was thankful and humble as he explained the history and his aspirations for the event. He was met with aggressive applause and the reality that Anarchapulco and the push for anarchy have made huge strides in just four years since the first conference.
Speakers such as Derrick Broze (The Conscious Resistance), Ben Swann (Reality Check), Dan Dicks (Press for Truth), Ernie Hancock (Freedom’s Phoenix), and Luke Rudowski (We are change) had incredibly interesting talks for the first half of the conference. They shared their personal stories and spoke on the status of journalism, alternative and mainstream media, spirituality, and the truth about how fucked up we all are and the ability to be the change we want to see in the world. It was a personal honour of mine to see Luke Rudowski and Dan Dicks, two guerrilla journalists I have followed for almost a decade.
Guests and speakers were extremely approachable and enjoyed meeting with one another and exchanging stories about their journey and ambitions. It seemed that a majority of people had come to this event alone. There was a constant theme, that family and friends did not understand the anarchist or the crypto nut. The result of this was a huge social connection among strangers and the creation of new bonds. There is a blessing here at Anarchapulco, that we are not alone with our eccentric and idealistic ideas for a free future.
The talks wrapped up around 7:00 pm, but the night was just warming up! Special surprise guest WuTang rappers would be main lining an all-night fiesta at the Palladium night club in Acapulco bay! Great music, new friends, and the breathtaking views from the cliffs above the bay would make for an unforgettable evening!
It’s only one day done and three more days to go! There is so much more to anticipate and look forward to. THANK YOU ANARACHAPULCO!
