South Carolina Seeking To Ban Genesis Mining Due to Unregistered Securities

in #crypto7 years ago

South Carolina lawmakers requested that the popular cloud mining platform, Genesis Mining, leave the state due to the selling of "unlicensed securities" on Friday, March 9.

There was a cease and desist order filed by South Carolina which claims Genesis Mining, which is actually registered in Hong Kong, illegally served residents with unregistered mining contracts.

South Carolina demands that Genesis Mining not only halt operations within the state, but pay a civil penalty for their wrongdoing. Genesis Mining has yet to provide any sort of official comment on this matter.

This order is the latest in a string of US state-level requests regarding numerous cryptocurrency companies to withdraw their current services. Both Texas and New Jersey were issued cease-and-desist request last month pertaining Bitconnect and to businesses with questionable reputations and history.
