Bitcoin To Be or Not To Be?

Evgeny Chereshnev, CEO and founder at Biolink.Tech has told Express.co.uk that bitcoin's future is as a means of payment, and not as a investment.

He said: "Cryptocurrency is just a set of numbers, in the same way as money is just a piece of paper until it’s accepted as payment. When these sets of numbers are accepted by someone as payment, it changes everything."

My Thoughts: Bitcoin is slow to transact with compared to smaller cryptocurrencies. With time Bitcoin may be used for large transactions, cannot see reason into why not using Bitcoin could not be used as a form of investment.

Not so, says David Sapper, COO at Blockbid.

He told Express.co.uk: "I believe that the hype has barely even begun. Only 1 percent of the global population owning any cryptocurrency and news of banks and financial institutions looking incorporate blockchain technology and invest in cryptocurrencies, I think there will be a more mainstream adoption in the coming 18-24 months.

My Thoughts: Cryptocurrencies are going to play into a large variety of different markets, the industry in new age technology has only just begun. Blockchain remains constant, when people are invested it will grow due to ease of use, payment facilitates a seamless payment process on all devices, gaming online. Why is the worst always assumed before it has even started? Happy to agree with this statement.

Plutus founders Jasper Tay and Danial Daychopan told Express.co.uk that "many of the companies within the crypto space will not be here in a year’s time."

Mr Tay said: "It is hard to say which digital currencies will stand the test of time. "Coins with utility value that have a use case will be mostly to stick around. Currently with market saturation I predict that many of the companies within the crypto space will not be here in a year’s time, leaving the strong to thrive in a more regulated environment.

My Thoughts: No-one has a 'crystal ball', how can one surmise the future, there is no evidence as to whether cryptocurrencies will be a success or failure at this point in time. Early adoption may make some companies boom, one must concur many will fail due to various obstacles. To move forward one needs to learn, learning only comes about by using, implementing and testing.

hello, excellent, I think it will depend a lot on the utility of this currency, I think that coins such as steem could be maintained because there are people investing in this community. Although its prices I consider will remain low, but will continue to exist, greetings!

Crypto pricing is taking a knock, agree people are holding onto what they enjoy in community on Steemit @rosmilage

@joanstewart I actually think we've not seen the floor yet, I would estimate as low as $2500 BTC, but it's not a problem as the price will go back up in 2020/2021 when the block halves!

Really useful to read these comments and find out what people are thinking and saying about the world of crypto. Thanks.@bon-nom

Those using crypto are the ones who must help teach others if we want this to work, I also enjoy seeing what people think about how crypto is going @bon-nom

Superiorcoin all the way ! Thanks for a great post Joan 😀

Looks like bitcoin drags down many altcoins .Supcoin should develop a modality to buy SUP directly ,not trough bitcoin only

When using exchanges you should be able to buy/sell, to or from any other coins listed on the exchange, not sure why you refer only to bitcoin.

Bitcoin is not what pulls alt-coins down, alt-coins may be affected, however people/media dictate value, positive news and people tend buy.

Excellent post!! Kryptonia @psi.acastillo

Excellent informative post

You're always keeping us so well informed. I'm trying to connect newer steemians with kryptonia and relay the symbiotic relationship that Steemit and Kryptonia have through personal conversation and I'm making some great connections in the process. Thank you for all you do

@kryptonia a great way to work into Steemit, both platforms allowing us to experience learning in use of crypto. Great to hear you making new connections through using this procedure.

supercoin is the best we should continue to expand our community @jos3leonardojose id kryptonia

Well actually BTC works fine as a payment method and it is perfect for sending money wothout banks interfeering. Especially on exchanges where the fees are low like easydex or so it can be a perfect way of sending money.

I saw in amsterdam you can buy sushi with btc. I was promoting my colleagues to use btc to send money to their families in stead of that damn moneygram.

But at this moment it still feels that if you spend your bitcoin you will be the girl that bought sushi for $500 bucks worth of BTC you know hahaha. Im still a hodler.. but indeed, it has to start spending somewhere!

I would also hold bitcoin, smaller crypto is great to put to work, this is where the learning takes place with lower value coins, high valued education among members @karinxxl

Northern countries are accepting payments a lot faster than where I live, one or two cities are testing via ATM and in supermarket stores, still waiting to read results after implementation.

Would be cool if it would get implemented right! I would use it for sure, big time

Nice bog post.

Great post!

Great post Joan

Always insightful @joanstewart. Thank you.

Would be great if everyone started buying Steem now.

Buy a little in each crypto you work with, then keep learning and using in platforms @reonlouw

Excellent, well written concise post on the survival of cryptocurrencies. Upvote and resteemed

Thanks for positive comment @eprolific

One thing is for sure, It is being utilized by enthusiasts therefore it exist. That is all that matters. They are demonizing cryptocurrencies which reveals their lack of knowledge of this whole thing that we utilize on a daily basis.

Media sways people rather than teaching them something valuable, you battle to find good information having to 'break it down' to try delve fact from fiction most days @mdominicorobin

If as they say only 1% actually uses crypto, there is a lot more who are going to find out and start wishing to learn.

I agree with your thoughts ladyjoan. No one knows exactly what the future brings. There are two sides of the coin. So be hopeful.

Always two sides to coin or blade, sometimes it feels like "blade runner" more than crypto education @rubelynmacion

thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas.

The utility of cryptocurrencies is in the eye of the viewer @joanstewart as same point of view of money!

Always in the 'eye of the beholder' @humoalex sure would help third world countries to become involved, save money and speed up transactions over borders. It all comes down to acceptance and education.

Informative read.
Transaction is with other crypto is getting faster than Bitcoin. Superior coin as an example.

I agree that the more possibilities of use a blockchain has, the more likely it will become popular... or even survive.

Cryptocurrency might come and go, but the blockchain technology that they left here will be widely adopted in the near future. So, don't invest in cryptocurrency, invest in the technology behind the crypto.

Blockchain most definitely is here to stay @superoo7

Haha that crystal ball line. Everyone says it haha. Nice post!
Hope all cryptos go up

The way media houses go at it, sure to have a Crystal Ball hidden somewhere @jacinta.sevilla

If i can find one hehe :)

😊 😊 😊

I wouldn't be too hasty to write off BTC. It does have a huge first mover advantage in addition to the name recognition amongst the wider public. In addition, the second layer solutions could solve the scalability and speed problems. At least in the near term, it is still a wise bet to hold some position in BTC.

Nor would I write off any new ideas, still infancy stage actually something to look forward to @bengy

Well, it's true that crypto has yet to really saturate the market. It has only really shown its head. I think crypto as a whole, not just bitcoin, will definitely still rise in the future.
