1. Binance is the best alt coin exchange for the time being
2. They are building their own mainchain and BNB will soon be their mainnet coin
3. They are building a Decentralized EXchange
4. All customers of Binance buy BNB to reduce their trading fees

So to summarize I think that the value of BNB can only increase as it has done so far.

Do you think it will outperform BTC in the near term?

Looks like Bitcoin dominance is decreasing and that we are entering an alt coin market. You might have noticed that most alt coins are in the green these days. So definitely possible that BNB outperforms BTC in the short term. But then who knows... :-)
