Yes, you read it right! The famous american actor, best known from his roles in succesful TV series like That 70's Show and from portraying the tech-guru Steve Jobs in the omonymous movie, as well as being the ex-husband of the beautiful Demi Moore, is a big fan of cryptocurrencies as well. He has invested in numerous projects and make quite good money out of it.
But as anyone who earns lots of money, one of the best uses for it is also to give back to the community. That is exactly what Kutcher has done. A couple of days ago he participated in an episode of the Ellen De Generes show and announced he would donate 4 millions USD for the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund (an animal sanctuary based in Gambia, Africa), using Ripple's native token, XRP.
The best part of the clip sees Ashton explaining Ellen what Ripple is and how easy it is to transfer money from the US to Africa in just a click "instead of writing a big giant check".
"I love Ripple" answers Ellen, visibily moved by the incredible gesture, before thanking the actor and his manager who came up with the idea.
This certainly looks promising for the American company and for the third-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. Being broadcasted on national television and showing how Ripple technology makes payment and cross-border money transfers quickly and efficiently is a very big boost in visibility and reputation, no?
Despite the news, though, there are still many people who are against XRP and define it as a fake currency and a scam...
So, what do YOU think about that? Is this just a very well-planned marketing / advertising operation? Or is it the sign that Ripple adoption is getting more and more widespread and marking the beginning of a new era where money will flow seamlessly and super-fast across the globe? Feel free to comment below and show your opinion :)
