Love or hate it, controversial or not, Tether is still the most popular stablecoin in the crypto space. It’s number 8 by market cap, it has the most liquidity across exchanges and it’s supported the most widely. Beyond any controversy, what’s been holding it back is the fact that it's based on OMNI technology, which in turn runs on the Bitcoin network. As of yesterday, USDT launched as a new token on the Tron blockchain using the TRC-20 standard.

I often wonder the easiest way for friends family and co-workers to onboard into crypto..
Unfortunately for me, I'm still carrying around some emotional baggage from old Tether news. When prices were dropping in 2018, I wanted to move a significant amount of crypto out; not into fiat, but just out of the volatile space. Around that same time, there were constant stories about Tether not being timely with audits. Every time I decided that was FUD, a credible source would weigh in and voice concern. In reality, I held many things way too long before moving back to fiat because I was not comfortable with Tether. I now use other stable coins and just can't make the mental leap to try Tether because of judgments made long ago which are simply not fair for me to still hold. That being said, when I'm not comfortable, I don't make decisions, and the aforementioned discomfort is still lingering.
great that business and communities can partner and come to new products and services, that for sure contribute to global adoption of new ways to use, store and transfer value for services, and goods as well.
Very interesting news! I'm curious to see what the Tether folks have to say about this.
That's big news for sure. Critically, I think you hit the big insight such that hopefully other chains will catch on to - use a stable coin for commerce and a chain token for resources. YOu're totally right that there is an awful tension between converting your resource token to $ to pay bills.
Major step forward for Tether to benefit from Tron network.
Converting fom Fiat and Crypto become easier.
Still dont like tron and personally do not need tether. Thx anyway. Technology is still interesting.
Thank you!
Interesting to see Tether still dominating despite the FUD, lack of transparency and the better options out there! Moving to developing technology could be an interesting enhancement.
