For those who have not heard about Initiative Q. They describe the project as follows:
“Initiative Q is creating a modern payment network that will aggregate the best ideas, innovations, and technologies developed in recent years. The Q payment network will allow safe, fast, and low-cost transactions, using a global currency.
Many of the ideas that Initiative Q will include already exist in some form, but thus far they have gained only limited acceptance, and there is no universal system that integrates them all. This is due to a classic chicken and egg barrier: No buyer wants to join a new network with no sellers, and no seller will offer a payment option that no buyer uses. Initiative Q will overcome this barrier by distributing its currency—Q—for free to early adopters, creating incentive for its adoption and use.”
For some time I have been very skeptical about this project. However, after reading the following two articles I have decided to give this team the benefit of the doubt:

The conclusions of these 2 writers convinced me that there is really very little downside here. I quote:
“Like any digital evolution, nothing will happen overnight. A 'Q' - which the company hopes will become as valuable as a dollar within a decade - is in the eye of the beholder. Iniative's own timeline predicts nothing, hopes for everything, yet commits to utilising the most advanced technology to bring a new global currency to fruition. The capacity to create Bitcoin, but better.
If that's not worth sharing an e-mail address, I'm not sure what is.”
“The value of “Q” is designed to be stable, so you shouldn’t be expecting to become a crypto-billionaire. If you do sign up, you might at least enrich the field of institutional cryptoeconomics. Experiments like this are how we improve our institutions, through a process much like scientific discovery.”
I clearly remember being skeptical about Bitcoin 7 years ago and therefore did not act at that time...I do not want to make that mistake again.
Signing up is free and they only ask for your name and an email address. There's nothing to lose but if this payment system becomes a world leading payment method your Qs can be worth a lot. It does require an invite from an existing member to ensure that accounts are associated with real people.
