About 5 years ago when I first started learning about cryptocurrency and the blockchain it would confuse me so much. I asked myself ''What's so special about it, is it not just like using online banking''? The only thing that made a bit of sense to me was what the miners were doing, I thought it made sense to set up a rig, mine some crypto and then cash in the profits for dollars. I just had no other idea of how crypto could be used, earned, or spent.
Another thing I did not understand was how so many people treated it as a stock to be traded or as a get-rich-quick scheme. People were doing so many different things with crypto that it became hard to understand. Mind you, this is coming from a newbie that still doesn't know much about the crypto world and all the potential uses of the blockchain.
Crypto became very attractive to me out of necessity. The idea of a currency that the government couldn't steal from with inflation and that I could spend without being tracked every time I buy a beer or pay a phone bill, I thought was very amazing. I think that's where the real value of crypto lies, in its utility and usability. I want to have control over the money I earn without the worry that my funds will be frozen because I supported the wrong movement, party or platform. I want a currency I can use anywhere I go without having to pay crazy exchange and bank fees.
I don't see how good it is to have crypto go up in value just to be sold off for dollars that are losing value, in that case you are still a slave to fiat and consequently to the government. We should adopt crypto and use it as currency in savings, investing, and in everyday spending. We should do so as a way of achieving financial freedom, a new gold standard so to speak, freedom from an oppressive system that has been milking our pockets dry.
Anyway, thats just a thought outta the top of my head. I've seen so many threads about pumping and dumping and rug-pulls etc.. that I thought I'd share.
So who out there is using crypto to pay their bills? I'd like to hear about it.
