I have to say that Ethereum's valuation is very high considering all the hacks & security incidents - especially the Parity hack. To my knowledge, Steemit has not been plagued by such problems.
As far as TRON is concerned, I didn't invest in the thing just because of the stupid name. I guess the devs saw Neo's success and decided to name their project after a famous Hollywood movie/character.
I'm still saving my cash for when SkywalkerShares are launched!
Yes a whole lot of ICOs everyday, its important investors research a project deeply before deciding to invest. My only advise to people is to look for a project that has a genuine use case and offers other means of making money other than trading , Steemit is the answer!
Earn money on shitcoins and invest in steem and bts. That's my strategy. But hey, what do I know. I'm just an oldtimer.
Value investing isn't in style right now in the crypto space. TRX was actually valued over $17B at one point. If that's possible, then a few of these altcoins are going to make me and others a lot of money. The bubble is just getting started right now and we are going to see a lot of stupid valuations before the year is over. I'm still holding my Steem and Litecoin, but I'm not expecting big returns on those anytime soon. I like SUB, LEND, POE & LINK to easily return 10x+ at these valuations and this market environment. Then I can buy more Steem, Bitshares & LTC with the profits. Thanks for the article!
When people talk bubbles they should keep in mind that the bubbles are NOT crypto-wide but instead are more focused on specific cryptos at various times. Some cryptos values are actually quite accurate, but others are in literally la-la land. Will be interesting to see how this all plays out over the next few months.
PS LTC is about to do some CRAZY shit in the coming months (beyond what most people could possibly expect), and I personally feel it is currently the most undervalued crypto in the top 10 (by far)... if not yet, it will be very soon.
Nice piece..Thanks
@oldtimer good comment and by the way chexk my post i have made it for specially and dont mind it
By the way deep post by friend
That makes sense. I considered to "play more" with shitcoins and HODL the coins / projects I actually believe in.
Thanks for the post and for explaining to people the current hype that is going on. While admittedly, I am a supporter of Tron, I do agree that it is highly overvalued - in my opinion this is due to the hype about how this platform could work. I do believe its valuation will be astronomical in the future (opinion only), but currently it is speculatively valued.
What Tron aims to be is quite confusing - 1) It aims to be a decentralised mobile app store (which Qtum is also aiming for as part of their road map), as well as a media platform. On the platform, if I'm correct, users will be able to issue their own tokens (and presumably they too will be valued speculatively and on a supply and demand basis). You can read about it in their white paper, but just imagine the value of a platform with multiple influencers creating tokens that, albeit meaningless, have worth due to users wanting them.
Ripple's market cap shot up way too quickly for my liking. The partnerships and prospective partnerships that they have been forming have really helped this from a PR point of view, and coupled with the huge influx of Binance users who are new to the market, I think that this has accounted for a lot of it. The growth is not unlike the growth of coins that are added on coinbase etc; when a platform gains multiple inexperienced users, a lot of them will go for the coin that banks, companies and newspapers are all raving about. I agree
I agree that when the hype starts to die down that coins with real utilities will do well for themselves. I am a huge fan of Bitshares and (of course!) Steemit - there are multiple other coins that I support based on their technology too.
Thanks for the great post!
I grew up surrounded by charlatans. Their proliferation only accelerated as I got older. Fortunately, these value-based developments might actually upend the rules and system by which one can be rewarded for deceiving (or stealing from) people.
It should be obvious that your product is what matters; marketing is an extremely inefficient use of resources if you're concerned about real-world solutions. If you're concerned about money, it's a great game.
I don't know enough of the technical details (not an IT guy) but if you're right, Bitshares and Steemit are doing exactly what I would want the tech to do. Or at the very least they're headed in the right direction.
Anyone creating anything in this world should strive towards it being a good creation, not just whether it can sell. Hopefully we'll also see some education initiatives with the coming disruptions that teach people to reason...or maybe that's too much to ask from tech.
Good read, thanks.
🙂🙏
Digging that metaphor for Steemit. How high can we go? They say to the moon. How about to the nearest galaxy please? :D
I vividly remembered it, New Year's day, just woke up and saw STEEM around $4, got a bunch hanging around and sold it hurriedly. Just to see it rise to $8+ the day after. @o@
I had no news about its bullish run whatsoever, yet i see a lot of sh!tcoins and cryptos overhyped then got dumped a day after. Crazy world we are living in, especially for a crypto newbie like me. :3
Looking forward for more:
I only invest in cryptos that I actively use. That way I can pay attention to what's happening.
Steem/SBD and Bitshares should be in for an interesting year in 2018 to say the least. Great platforms that are ready to go viral at any point... FULL STEEM AHEAD!
I’m still confused as fuck why SBD is so high when it’s “supposed to be” pegged near $1. But hey, I’m not complaining, and perfectly happy to see it keep rising...
Its not pegged to the usd anymore. Its no longer the steem backed dollar, instead its now the steem blockchain dollar.
well, that makes sense.
nice. 😎
you said sh!tcoin, not us (we call them poopcoins-- more kid friendly!).
But we think alike, as it's true Steemit and BitShares are low on hype and high on usage. We do some speculative "overnite" blog posts for traders, but we mainly focus on research as USED to be done in the stock world prior to the great internet bubble. Please check us out, and here's our latest on Raiden Network which aims to solve some of the problems you identify above....

I love this! So hard to decipher what is a shitcoin nowadays and what will be worth something. I keep hearing about Tron but doesn't seem like it is anything yet. I bought Paragon coin , but have no idea if I wasted money or not. New ICOs popping up everyday. The one I think is the most ridiculous is "Cream coin" the one sponsored by Ghost Faced Killah. It will always be worth $1, so why would anyone invest in that? Makes no sense but I am sure people bought it, because it was an ICO.
while i believe in the steem blokchain , mostly because of its proof of work, as a developer i would say you shouldn't for any reason undermine ethereum due to its wide spectrum of applications and how easy integrating the eth blockchain can be.
But in all, steem has everything to offer, alot more than these poocoins out there
Isn’t Steem delegated proof of stake?
Great points. I believe STEEM is one of the few coins that could make top-10 very soon without casting more negative light on the space as a whole (looking at Tron...).
I've been a big believer in Ether, as probably the most promising of the "platform tokens" without artificially inflated/ insecure tx/s but I see a LOT of interoperability opportunities with it, Stellar, etc.
That said, STEEM has some of the unique features that will be necessary of social platform tokens - super promising.

I think crypto will have a great future because his strategy is good in the digital currency world @rok-sivante
Great post. I agree, which ones are real and which ones are speculations.
I want to invest crypto's and have not pulled the trigger. If you have any recommendations on the future, please do some posts. thanks for the great article. Matt

Congrats man, It is a great content and also funny and easy to read. I'm considering buy some bitshares for a long time. But I'm not sure if this tech will be the best for decentralize exchanges.
Nice crypto info 👍👍👍👍
Love the Gif
Very interesting post. Some solid points in your perspective!
This type of quality content is very much appreciated and we should have more of this ;-)

The game is in the hype. The result is in the short term profit. The proof is in the Lambos. Other than that, I really do not see the rationale behind the quest to invest in coins that is just an idea. I remember the villain V in V for Vendetta movie saying ideas are "bulletproof", I bet he is not a cryptocurrency fan or he'd know that ideas could be billions of dollars :)
People want that immediate gratification and information or hype, if you will, is king in the game of cryptocurrency. I have watched the hype on Tron, and the guys in the know say that the project is empty, that notwithstanding, people are buying Lambos off an idea!
It is the wild wild west, let's hope no one ends with a bullet hole in their
gutwallet :)Thanks for sharing. Gracias

Many should be reading this post, which will at least save them from losing $$$. Old school analysis.
Hopefully can focus on the world of crypto and can be successful as others who have first enjoyed it. Thanks for ur sharing @rok-sivante. Have a nice day.

The crypto world is really still in a mess where people make decisions based on excitement and feelings!
Many people make decisions without studying the long term vision of the coin.
Many people are rushing to ripple just because they heard rumors it will used by banks!
You have ecplained great points here than can help people make sane decisoins in the crypto world.
There was a post today made by @nanzo-scoop explaining how to make decisoins before buying any coins, guys you can check hisarticle here
Well, I guess that always how the markets worked. Perhaps it’d be expecting too much of humans to upgrade such group psychology dynamics as fast as the technology we’re investing in...
I just posted a news article about how Kodak is going to run an ICO. It's exciting to see how ICOs could develop into the new thing for more established companies that makes IPOs less popular. Think about the brands you use every day and what it would mean if they would start to run their own ICOs to raise capital for their whole company or only specific products, services or initiatives.

Interesting. I though Kodak croaked a while ago when digital cameras put them out of business. Perhaps not a bad move in attempts to revive a dinosaur...

Great thoughts @rok-sivante, and I appreciate the discussion. I too am floored by the FOMO drive of Vaporware projects. I'm even MORE Floored by ETH being over $1K and Kitties being their Killer App at the moment. The only thing more Strange than the current Hype, is the lagging development of SteemIt... still in Beta, still Buggier than ever...
BUT NOW WITH NEW COLORS!
Still, Steem DOES have better utility than ANY of the latest Cryptos to go $1 Billion plus : /
It’ll be interesting to see what happens to Ethereum price when Plasma rolls out or Raiden Network gets online - at that point, there could be some valid reason for Ethereum mooning...
You are absolutely right about hype and irrationality driving the market. I find it irritating to say the least when garbage coins just skyrocket to the top of the charts on unconfirmed rumors and FOMO while better options stay stagnant.
When I look at what a lot of cryptos claim they are going to do STEEM is already there. Correct me if I'm wrong but the Steem blockchain already processes the most transactions and is still lightning quick. Steem already has handles instead of character strings that are impossible to memorize and reasonable governance model. Steem probably has the most individual accounts. Multiple applications are already interacting with the blockchain and SMT's are on the way. Why STEEM isn't a top ten coin boggles my mind.
Well Hello again Rocky!
To me, TRON was a huge success because a large slice of crypto enthusiasts really like their gaming and entertainment, and that project enticed that audience really well.
On the other hand, building expectation is something all those hitcoins did. We all know, again if most people here know their gaming, that No Man's Sky was a big bunch of nothing that sold like Hotdogs.
Finally, let's hit the ground running, thinking out of the box, decentralized blockchain way - bullshitting our way to internet riches by using every catchphrase, jargon, label and trendy term we can think of.
Cheers!

Back in my younger days I'd be in on the bleedin' edge of everything I found interesting. Older, I take a wait and see approach. Stopped me from getting onto steemit in 2016 but made the decision to join in 2017 a no-brainer.
At some point there will be a reckoning, or a shakeout or whatever we decide to call it, and a new order will come to the crypto realm. I firmly believe that steem will be very respected then.
Thanks ! you just made my day :)
Gift that's given spontaneously really made me happy!
Thanks!
Hope you also have a good night / and day :)
So true, and will be ever more prominent at the years end in hindsight, when we see the real value will lie in coins that offer a true solution and practical product to better society. By the way, how does everyone think of LTC in this regard?
Really @rok-sivante I did not knew there are so much points to consider while investing ...This post will surely help me in the long run .....Thanks a lot fella keep steeming !!
Good perspectieven to read!
