What Does Investing Mean To You?

All About Investment.png

I have been doing investment since I was a little girl as my dad is a business man.

I was barely into high school when one day my dad asked all his children to put in $250 for an investment where each of his children can have 5% shares. I had no idea what it meant at that time. Since I had no use of my money anyway as a teenager, I did have savings from babysitting and summer work, so I willingly gave my dad that sum of money.

All I knew about investment at that time was to be willing to take out a sum of money for a project and expect a huge benefit in the future. True to my dad's words, that investment did bring a lot of profit to the entire family. That was when I started learning about the value of investment. Investment then has played a big part in my life because of this early experience, but I didn't really understand the importance of it until I came out to work and moved out of home living independently looking after my own finances at 21.

I believe everyone needs to learn how to manage their money and learn about investment by experience. Of course, we all like to win in our investment and not lose money. As all things in life, we need to allow ourselves to make mistakes even in financial matter. We are not born 'perfect', so we learn by trial and error. So in the process, I try not to be too hard on myself when I 'lose a little money' but I do go cautiously as I want to invest profitably with positive results. We can't let someone else take over our investment. We can't just follow another person blindly and do what they do. What works for them may not work for you, so I believe we all need to learn by personal experience.

There are certainly risks involved and I am not one who is willing to lose my hard earned money. But when I have 'extra' money that come my way that I earn passively, I sometimes would play around the risks to see how far I can go to get a higher return. Sometimes I win and sometimes I lose. But once I lose, I stop because I can't afford to lose more. If I win, then I continue to monitor the growth to see if it is worthwhile continuing.

My end goal of investing is mainly to earn extra income. I hold on to a job for my own financial freedom because I love my job so that I can give to the community. I dare not quit my job to live on only investment. There are a lot of things I want to give to my local community that money cannot give. Investment is not all about money but also investing time into worthy communities which boils down to worthy people.

Ever since the internet came along, I started doing a lot of investment in starting my own busineses and they had proven to be so profitable that I now earn passively without doing much other than monitoring the progress and maintaing the front-end. Internet has made everything so much easier for us because we can work on our business in our own time without pressure. At the same time, I connect with worthy people that I come to know in my internet business.

So with all the "extra" income from my investment, I can then afford to go on holidays and travel around the world. This is what I do with my investments and it has enriched my life so much in meeting different cultures and new people. I am not a big spender and would make the best out of what I gain from my investment to enjoy new adventures to other countries. I have learned so much in my travels that I purposely picked this username "rosatravels" when I came onto the Steem blockchain. But sure enough with time, not only do I get to share my travels, I also learn a lot about investing into Steem and still learning! When I came on Steem, the blockchain was in euphoria because the price of Steem was at its peak. Now that it is all time low, does it mean that we quit? Of course not. Investment is long term. There is something worthy behind Steem and only the ones who stay on know what it is. It is for this reason I am here today too.

What about you?

What does investing mean to you?

Nice post, investing to me is making a decision to use your disposable income to replace your earned income.
In this way as your investments grow you can work less, explore other job opportunities, build your own business or use that time to travel. I think investing is not just about getting rich, it is about freedom of choice regarding where and when you work, whether you work for others or yourself, where you can live, where you send your children to school and what opportunities you can provide for your family.
Investing to me is about freedom.

Hey @shortsegments, thanks for your sharing. I do agree with you about financial freedom in that sense. This is also true too.

One of the best post I saw tonight, investing really mean a lot and I also understand this, investment isn't for the weak, and someone Mustn't attach emotions to it because it deals with risk taking.

Thanks to the steemit which is always fulfilling the dream for me

Greetings, dear @rosatravels

Investing means for me a way to live my life with less concerns

thank you and have a good night

Sorry for the off topic question but I wanted to know which front end do you use which allows you to write more than 5 tags?

Hey @syedumair, great to see you again. All nitrous sites allow 10 tags. And when you use more than 6 tags, it randomly shifts your tags for you.

Cool!
Thank you.
Nice to see you too. 😊

Great to see that we both had dads that wanted us to learn about investing in such creative ways! Mine too.

Good luck in the Writing Contest!

Yes, learning about investment from a father helps us go in this area.

Investment something that need to be taught to everyone, even kids, so they have a better future

It's true. Actually investment is not just money, but other things in life too.

Definitely

Awesome post!

"As all things in life, we need to allow ourselves to make mistakes even in financial matter. We are not born 'perfect', so we learn by trial and error."

This serves as a great lesson to all investors out there. It's important to be able to make mistakes that you can recover from and learn a great deal from. You can't be too afraid of risks, but you also can't be too willing to take unnecessary risks!
