This is dope. Both @AragonProject & @LivepeerOrg delivering. @petkanics & @licuende you are all setting awesome examples of leadership & execution.
Keep crushing!

FlatOutCrypto‏ @flatoutcrypto
@cofound_it today announced they were winding down operations and returning c. $14m of assets to token holders (current market cap $8m). This can be seen as next stage of ICO process, as ICOs inevitably fail to achieve goals (or suffer from legal issues necessitating shutdown)

This is move in the right direction. Some value is returned to investors (pretty much all ico funds I believe), prevents a zombie company from taking up resources/wasting capital and allows team to move on with reps intact (startups fail regularly). Beats taking funds anyway…

More ICOs winddown in such a manner, the more it will become the usual. This will likely lead to expectation/pressure for overcapitalised/underperforming projects to follow suit, which opens up prospect of speculative holds…

@lawmaster and @DiarNewsletter published a list of projects with market caps less than treasuries.

To have any confidence in such a trade (and it's way off atm) given lack of holder rights, you'd have to trust leadership/governance of a project enough to voluntarily do such a thing. Top of Diar list are @AragonProject, coincidentally one I believe would meet such criteria…

Carla L. Reyes‏ @Prof_CarlaReyes
So grateful to have had the opportunity to be on this panel with some folks doing some really innovative things in the blockchain space. Thanks for presenting @AragonProject’s @MyPaoG @amfam’s Ryan Rist, @JdeLottinville of @OpenLawOfficial and @inside_r3’s Jason Rozovsky

Steven Crocker‏ @StevenC70870710
Just my opinion... not only proceeding with a buyback but announcing it breeds confidence back into a project and restores investors faith. If a team still believes their project is worth what they originally sold it for then now is the best time to do it. @daostack take note!

Philip Stehlik‏ @pstehlik
Looking at which #DAO framework/tool is best to manage a small Club/Society (German "Verein"). @daostack and @AragonProject are great but seem a bit heavy for this purpose. @joincolony might work but not sure Task/Payout map well to a simple club. Ideas?

Allow a small-ish group of people (10-50) to manage a common-interest org/club that puts on events a few times a year. Backed by a legal entity (German "Verein" - Like a small non-profit club) so we can have bank account and legal status.

      Tatu‏ @Smokyish
The Aragon DAOs are suited well for smaller as well as larger scale organizations, check out our current testnet version user guide at https://wiki.aragon.org/tutorials/Aragon_Core_User_Guide … and test it out for yourself at http://app.aragon.org :)

Michael Novogratz‏Verified account @novogratz
This is the BGCI chart...I think we put in a low yesterday. retouched the highs of late last year and the point of acceleration that led to the massive rally/bubble... markets like to retrace to the breakout..we retraced the whole of the bubble.

      Brian Guy‏ @brianguy714
A few world currencies are currently in crisis, and more will follow. People in Ven. are already quickly migrating to @Dashpay to pay for things, because their currency is worthless, while the gov't tries to develop their own. Meantime DASH is secure, and nearly instant.

      antifragilitus[@bitcoin]‏ @vin_thetown
Dash is a shitcoin. Anyone trying to get an uneducated person to use dash in Venezuela should seriously check their motives. You’re basically profiting off relatively poor peoples ignorance at a most vulnerable time economically. Shame.

Hey all, was wondering if anyone had any insight into what was going on with Budbo. Not only has it tanked (which I get given the market, currently at .008c) but I haven’t been able to find much in the way of progress updates? A 12 July tweet has them hanging with Phunware, but before that the last non general canabis news tweet was June 27. That’s an awful long time of radio silence, isn’t it?

      Randall Crowder
I'll elaborate later, but the team is absolutely still working on this ... guys, the price of a coin has nothing to do with the company beyond access to additional capital, but not many cryptos want to be seen selling their own coin. Ripple is still Ripple despite the price of XRP. The mistake Budbo made was bending to pressure from "the mob" to list and provide liquidity early. They should have never listed on an exchange until 2019. Rookie mistake, but yes ... they are pretty much complete on their blockchain work and have just begun design work on the mobile platform. Dev on that platform should begin by next month and then they I would expect them to release a gen-1 by Q1. When I invest in venture, I have a 5-7 year exit horizon. It's been a few months for Budbo. Keep your pitchforks at bay for at least 3 years or you really shouldn't be investing in any startup ... be it crypto or otherwise.

only in crypto do people think they should be updated weekly and that entrepreneurs should just be on standby talking about the company constantly. Hiring takes 3-6 months, dev takes 4-8 months on something even basic, partnerships take years. The ICO is a fundraising event ... then people get to work. I only want updates when the are updates that matter. Butv that said, I told them they need to better updates and they are doing so in TG.

Kris JS
This may sound like a stupid question but if the whales control the market, why do they bother trying to force the price of BTC down to accumulate more? Why don't they simply start buying LTC (with a similar supply) at $50 and start to drive that price up to where BTC is now?

      JP Theoneandonly
BTC is the most predictable (follows trends) crypto asset on the market. Better to guarantee market gains w/ BTC and scoop up the alt coin volatility as a result of BTC crashes/pumps on the side. Gotta manipulate the king, to take advantage of the kingdom.

      Abdallah Hany
nice question and also debatable
if whales really control prices as much as you say
then price itself doesnt matter
no reason to make a coin worth 20k or even 1k
just pump it 50% sell it dump it the same 50 and repeat till the whale make the same amount of money he would make from 20k btc

Demand do matters and emotions affect masses, you have to create extreme fears and greed to make profits as whales

btc has first move advantage and brand name and true decentralization
rarely does anyone say blockchain or crypto but say BTC when referring to cryptos

      Todd Blackburn
The answer is simple. They are not allowed to. If an institution has not approved an asset to be traded an institutional trader will be flat out fired for touching it. They have rules they have to follow just like any other job.

We definitely need to fund this proposal!
by thethrowaccount21

https://www.dashcentral.org/p/MyDashWallet3

Swap Dash to BTC, BCH, ETH or LTC, which is already implemented in the bot, but we never had enough time to complete this on the Website and provide a great user experience like for Shapeshift, which is soon requiring users to register. This might give us a great advantage, plus our fees are much lower and we have an amazingly fast service that can convert coins in seconds. https://www.dash.org/forum/attachments/upload_2018-9-7_0-54-35-png.8447/

I mean, I don't think I need to tell you what a boon this would be for our community, to have a way to swap between the four biggest cryptos. This alone makes the proposal worth it.

      Fount4inhead
It's amazing how much they can produce on a tiny budget as opposed to what core produce on what's in comparison a huge budget.

      kanuuker
There's no comparison to what they're doing. Dash Core is literally inventing new technology. As awesome as Mydashwallet is, they aren't really developing new technology that I'm aware of.

What if Dash acquired Shapeshift?
by ISkiAtAlta

As you may know, Shapeshift is going to start requiring accounts, which undermines one of its major value propositions. There will be high demand (and high respect) for a replacement service.

What if Dash acquired Shapeshift, open sourced the code, and ran the service on the MN network as one of the first Dash DAPs?

Alternatively, we could build our own competing service.

      Tungfa
there are already other competitors in the market , shapeshift with the kyc will shoot itself on the foot , just give it time (no need for dash to step in - would be a centralised solution)

      TruValueCapital
Atomic swaps and auto exchanger smart contracts replace Shape Shift centralized business model.

Forbes: Is Crypto the Future of Film Funding?
submitted 16 hours ago

Earlier this year I wrote an article for Forbes about how the future of fundraising for Film and Television may lie in cryptocurrency: forbes.com/sites/steveforbes/2018/03/29/is-crypto-the-future-of-film-funding/

I talk about this in my latest video, with director and Sundance Alumni, Doug Karr. I'm super lucky to be a producer on his series "HardFork", and we talk about how we raised all the incubation money for the series through the blockchain platform "Steemit", and then raised the first million via "Dash".

Doug discusses the process of fundraising and investment through cryptocurrency, and how other filmmakers can follow in the HardFork team's footsteps.

ELI5: UBI (now URI ?)
by nel0_angel0

      robotspacetime
Yeah and why are we getting into politics? Politics ruins everything. If he wants to sell/give the airdrop technology to a Government, sure whatever. But I am concerned there are plans of turning EOS into some kind of air drop UBI...and it's my only worry with the product.

      Tsrdrum
URI is a guaranteed EOS resource dividend for people who sign up for Block. One’s upcoming social networking app, which has some sort of individual proof-of-life verification that had yet to be released.

I see it as a good way of onboarding the general public into the EOS ecosystem, although many holders are not happy about it.

I personally think the best move would be to split the existing worker proposal system, which is 4%, between 2% URI for verified individuals and 2% distributed to the REX book for token holders renting their unused tokens. That’s just my opinion though.

We as members of the EOS community have the ability to choose which of these proposals we want in our ecosystem.

WHY WORBLI IS GREAT FOR EOS
by worbli

Are you ready?
Hey community!

We can definitely sense the traction picking up on our social channels. More and more people are starting to see the value that WORBLI provides to EOS.

      auser8
hated your airdrop, method. It was more of an arigrab.

      Worbli
Thanks for the feedback. Out method is a ShareDrop, which is a new way of driving value into the sharedropped tokens. We're sorry that you're not a fan!

      auser8
Can you explain share drop? Please
And I find it odd. That eos mainnet appears to be more secure in one area. As they can drop tokens in my wallet without my personal information.

Can airdrops disappear? (missing one now)
by KKK543

Before the trybe.one airdrop I counted 15 airdrops (from genesis block) on my account via eosflare.io.

After the trybe airdrop I counted 16.

However now I counted 15 again. How can this happen?

I just read the article about the trybe.one airdrop revoking the transactions (the accidently sent 3x the amount of tokens, which kept me jaw dropping and totally lost my confidence in EOS)

Unfortunately I didn't take notes which Aridrops I actually received and which is now missing. Do I now have to register everything manually like bookkeeping to track?

Can anybody now send a payment, airdrop and revoke it whenever he likes? Weird!

Performance and Transaction Billing on EOS: A Cooperative Effort, Not a Competitive One
by Any_x

In collaboration with the great teams and Block Producers Aloha EOS and EOS Titan, we recently launched the EOS Mechanics initiative in an effort to research how transactions affect the performance of EOS and interact with block production hardware. Our goal is to help optimize all block production through empirical research data, and to guide everyone towards a collectively improved EOS network.

However, we would like to stress that Block Producer relative performance is not a competition. Comparing Block Producers to each other is not the goal of this project. If such comparisons are taken into account when voting, then the project could harm the very network that it is trying to improve. This post outlines why performance improvements need to be a cooperative effort, and explains some of the issues that could be faced if a competitive route is chosen instead.

MakerDAO Qs Part 6
by coltonrobtoy

All Answered Qs on Google Doc.
How long is the Security Delay in Adopting New Proposals? Who codes the proposals? Would they code the proposals even though they feel a certain proposal is morally/logically wrong?
For Global Settlement, how long is the period of time “needed to allow keepers to process the proportional claims of all Dai and CDP holders based on the fixed feed value”?
Are the Price Oracles paying Gas fees for every tx? How often does a tx happen? How many Oracles are there in total?
What is the current Price Feed Sensitivity Parameter?
Can MakerDAO Globally Settle with only one Global Settler voting for it?

New to CPD: a few practical questions
by inamsterdamforaweek

I'm experimenting with CDP as a fun way to use and learn.

A few questions:
Closing the CDP. I noticed that I need to pay a fee when paying back DAI and the fee is in MKR..That's pretty unexpected. So I need to buy MKR as well and expose myself to the price variation on another coin. That's not great imho, why not pay in DAI/ETH?

Let's say I paid all DAI back, can I just close the CDP or do I need to pay extra fees?

What are all those "Token Allowance" things in dai.maker? I activated them all but no clue why
Is there any way not pay a lot of fees?! On oasis it costs me 1$ to open a order, 1$ to close it..that's huge. I took 30 DAI and paid like 4 already in orders and got almost nothing for it. This is not ok. Any other places we can use the DAI for? Cause right now it's expensive, impractical and bothersome

MakerDAO Supports Development Focused on Dai Applications
MakerDAO

Here at Maker, we’re heavily focused on fostering and developing a strong developer ecosystem. We believe that anyone should be able to leverage the power of Dai, and the many benefits it can bring to applications of all industries. We partner closely with companies that are bringing real world applications to life. See our recent announcements with Wyre, Tradeshift and more.

Another way we support development is through our hackathon events, held in key cities around the world. For example, check out the leading projects at our Wyre co-hosted unBlock Hackathon. Our recent hackathon was focused on decentralized applications and cryptocurrency projects building Dai Applications. Teams were encouraged to incorporate MakerDAO API’s and libraries into their projects.

Here were a few of the leading projects:
Snowden Protocol
Winner of the unBlock Hackathon, this project was focused on leveraging game theory economic incentives to securely handle information. Applications include secure exchange of information, such as conversations for informants. Both parties stake Dai into a “conversation” as a bounty, which is triggered to be destroyed if the information gets published on the ethereum blockchain. The smart contracts are configured with the appropriate Dai stake, expiration date and closing distribution terms. In short, this protocol functions like a smart message, which stores digest, but not content itself, allowing for secure message exchange within an application.

EOS CROWNED THE WORLD’S BEST DIGITAL CURRENCY
E&S Group

EOS has once again been crowned the world’s top cryptocurrency by the Chinese government. The criteria for the award is based on innovation and application rather than market capitalisation. Whilst EOS takes the top spot, Bitcoin, the world’s leading cryptocurrency in terms of trading volume and market cap moved up seven places from June.

The Chinese Centre for Information Industry Development has made public the third edition of the Global Public Chain Technology Evaluation Index which lists dozens of cryptocurrencies in terms of satisfying a range of criteria. EOS has come first for the second consecutive time, despite issues around the platform’s mainnet launch back in June.

Part of the success of EOS has been put down to its scalability as the platform’s proof-of-stake protocol is able to process a large number of transactions in comparison to other leading blockchains.

Similar to the previous edition, Ethereum came in at number two but NEO dropped out of the top three to be replaced by Komodo which last time, had failed to crack the top 10.
