My friend and I use Blockchain.info for storage of Ether and BTC that is active and not in cold storage. We were both excited when the Exchange feature was added. A closed system within the wallet should make it a more reliable experience. It is a Shapeshift service bundled
We both experienced Failed trades. In each case, the funds were sent successfully to Shapeshift (mine was Ether) and the conversion was to be to Bitcoin Cash. There is a message stating the trade failed and that I had to contact Shapeshift support to get the Ether back because there was no refund address. Well there should be considering that they received the Ether from my address!
I created a support ticket following the Shapeshitty webform. It has been days now and there is no response and hundreds of dollars worth of crypto are missing.
BEWARE Steemians of Shapeshift. Don't lose out like we did!
Contrast our experience with the speed and great support at Blocktrades.us.
Thanks for the heads up! I had a failed ETH to BTC exchange during the cryptokitty craze ( own 3 gen 4's btw :P ) .. and they still charged me the transfer fee!!!
Crazy. I am reconsidering using Blockchain since they are associated with Shapeshitty
Yup, a useless services that I had 0% luck with.
Luckily, I am only out $400, but that is besides the point.... they stole my money.
Wow that is crazy! I can't comprehend how Blockchain.info being what seemed to be the most popular wallet would team up with and endorse con artists. Crazy! What BTC wallet would you recommend?
It is most unfortunate for us few who got mislead. There will be those who used it successfully who will doubt our claims but more and more people are having the same negative experience with Shapeshift.... It won't take long for the crypto-community to catch on.
I use Electrum BTC wallet. I have used them for 2 years now. I would also like to hear what other wallets people are using. :)
Thank you. You are correct. They have done a good job creating a mix of positive and negative reviews on their service. Blockchain will hurt over this. I created a support ticket for both Shapeshift and Blockchain and have had no response from either.
I used btc.com to store some Bitcoin cash a while back and it worked very well. You get the real keys for your wallet and it is browser client side decryption.
I am going to look at Electrum. I sincerely appreciate your comments and support. It makes me feel better to have people to share my experience with. I am not wealthy and the Ether I lost represented a lot of effort in acquisition!
Thank you.
