A recently published patent application from Master shows that payments giant may use blockchain as a way to protect identity data.
In an application released by US. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on Thursday, Mastercard describes a system in which a semi-private or private blockchain would be used to receive and store identity data, pieces of which may include a "name, street address, tax identification number" and more.
According to the patent, Mastercard-approved nodes are the only ones that can update the identity information in the system.
I saw this news too, the American Bank has just done a very similar thing, interesting to see how blockchain is creeping into the real world. Check out my latest post for my own thoughts on it.
