This is a pretty drastic drop! Wouldn't be awesome to have a tool that tells you exactly what happened at peaks or drops like this? or does it already exists?
I don't know why the sudden drop...However,I like your idea! As the mouse goes over the price line instead of seeing price and time , there could be a second option where you can see what caused the fluctuation of the price.

The poster above is making things up. There is a single seller clearing out to buy their gold plated yacht at the rate of 100 BTC/min. This started on OKCoin at 13:21 UTC and the drop has now spread out.
