I don't know about other Basic Income projects, but Grantcoin gets its funds from charitable donations. They have been in operation for over a year. No one is taxed/forced to give up anything for someone else's benefit. Have a look: http://www.grantcoin.org/
Backed by Tax-Exempt Nonprofit ... for people to donate, they need to have a job and with a minimal basic income, who will donate in the long run? the 62 people who own most wealth on this planet?
Any money scheme that talks in terms of wealth growth and equality is a wrong premise because there is no way to quantify the income needed for every individual. Example: you deem that 2,000/month would be more than enough, and I'd say $3000 because I have other needs. In the long run it is a recipe for disaster
