@louisthomas a really great post, well done. I think you'd like my series Crypto Nights - our first episode briefly looked at the influence of the Government. The fourth episode has just been uploaded and looks at Monero - maybe thats a cryptocurrency that Government can't find a way to ban? Would love to hear your thoughts.
