[ALERT] CoinDash ICO site was just hacked and more than 7 Million USD lost!

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

Few minutes ago CoinDash ICO started. It's a rather good project and due to a small market cap, the ICO would be a bargain (as I described earlier). However, coindash.io was hacked and a wrong address showed there. It was announced too late on twitter and lots of investors (including me) already sent their ether.

Everybody was following the official instruction, so Coindash team should cover his investors losses. But even if there's a refund in CDT tokens, it won't have much value. Coindash platform was meant for automating trading and ICOs, so security would be the key.

I'll add all the updates in this thread. Please upvote and resteem for spread.

As announced on slack, everyone who participated (even if sent to a fake address) will get their CDT. On one hand it's better than losing everything, on the other hand the token is losing its value.

Here's the official announcement:

CoinDash is responsible to all of its contributors and will send CDTs reflective of each contribution. Contributors that sent ETH to the fraudulent Ethereum address, which was maliciously placed on our website, and sent ETH to the CoinDash.io official address will receive their CDT tokens accordingly. Transactions sent to any fraudulent address after our website was shut down will not be compensated.

There are lots of messages on slack and telegram group from fake accounts about a compensation if you send money to a specific addresses.

DON'T SEND ANY ETHER TILL THERE'S AN OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

Etherscan added a warning and named the address as FAKE_Coindash to prevent future loss.

Also the scammer address now doesn't get any confirmation from the miners.

I hate to play devil’s advocate, but something for the prudent to consider:

When do we have to start worrying about ICOs being hacked rather than hacked?

Very concerning…
