The past few years have been astounding as the market cap for cryptocurrencies has exponentially increased. Traditional stock market has also increase but pale in comparison by this new wave of investment vehicles. Many of them hold promises to be the next big protocols.
It is interesting to note that when the internet was born, the protocol and architecture layer could not be monetised in an efficient way. However, this changed for blockchain technology. Every token can act as a fuel in this big ecosystem, to execute smart contracts, as a means of stored value, transactions, etc.
Ethereum is a good example when dApps and other innovative scaling solutions are attempting or attempted to build on it.
Last but not least, they said that incumbent companies have a huge head start and will dominate the market for many decades. Perhaps, this statement will become more short lived as technology improves.
This is one of the many examples to prove my stand.
10 yrs ago: Disney's market cap was 25x larger than Netflix.
5 yrs ago: Disney's market cap was 12x larger.
2 yrs ago: Disney's market cap was 4x larger.
Today: Disney's market cap is below Netflix.
