"DECENTRALIZATION"....TRUST EVERYTHING....TRUST NOTHING

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

"Decentralized, Decentralized, Decentralized"....I think you get the point...but do you?

We grow up having to trust something "bigger" than us...as children its parents...transfers to teachers...older siblings...relatives...then it evolves into employers...institutions...perhaps a God of some sort....

But imagine a system where no one thing is in obvious control....where everyone is in control but no one is in control...forced to work together for the integrity of the system...an ever evolving system....true checks and balances....

Theoretically that's what block-chain offers...

Its a scary concept...its easier to "trust" a system where its obvious who is in charge...responsible...in case something goes wrong...but as I have learned...just because something is a responsible party...doesn't mean its accountable...in fact...it appears recent history shows us just the opposite..."too big to fail...too big to change...too big to care" seems to be the new norm...

I think its one of the key reasons people throughout the world have flocked to "bitcoin" and all the "altcoins" that continue to surface...it sends a message...it is something you "own" that isn't "controlled " by a system you are supposed to trust but have no faith in...it feels more "pure"...more "democratic"...

Its not without its flaws...first it does involve trust in mathematical algorithms that most of us novices accept as "trust worthy"...then for some coins it involves trust in miners validating transactions in what we believe to be a "trust worthy" system...and anything involving money will lead to scams....so for those reasons perhaps it is a leap of faith...perhaps even a bit desperate...

But...we live in a human system...can only work with those things created by humans....we need some system in place...and just as living things aren't born into adulthood... no system is "born" fully developed...things evolve...grow...change...

And if you believe that humankind is meant to be "one"...more inclusive than exclusive...a body of knowledge that needs to allow each being the chance to offer their experience and knowledge...as equals....

Perhaps...block-chain is the next evolutionary stage...

Agree, this is worth reading my friend

Thank you much.

Well said. I agree with all you convey here:
I believe that Blockchain technology can and will change the world.
It is inevitable.
As you say nothing is infallible simply because human-beings are infallible. Know one really knows where the blockchain tech is taking us but no one can deny that is is driving change. And change is needed.
Math is easier and more reliable as something to trust than people. People can be corrupted and it usually involves money. We put our trust in the bankers and they turned out to be swindling wankers.
Greed is NOT good and never has been good. The 2008 financial disaster proved this and the people on mass are now waking up.
Blockchain is far more than merely a way of transferring money but a way of storing and transferring value of all kinds. Information is power. Leader know this and have always known it. This is why megalomanic leaders such as Hitler and Stalin altered history by destroying records and creating new ones to fit their agenda. I ams sure modern leaders and the CIA or whoever have done this and still do this. However, when al history it placed on the blockchain it becomes impossible to erase or alter. This is essential if we are to stop some possible future dictator wiping out ideas of freedom from such great people as Gandhi or Martin Luther King for example. Control over history is ultimate power.
A guy whom I admire in this blockchain revolution is called Chris Ellis of ProTip and he said something I think captures where we are heading:
"The future will no longer be about fighting evil, but creating the tools to stop us from doing evil". He is so right. On certain things we just cant trust ourselves to do the right thing. And money is one of them. It is just too dangerous for society as a whole. It is rather like those bumps we have in the road to force us to slow down while driving past a school. As much as most of us will slow down because we know it is the right thing, there is always some selfish person who ignores this and one day ends up killing a child. I see blockchain working like that. Most of us will not need to worry because we generally do the right thing. It will be those who either cant control their egos or those who let greed over power their conscience, who will find themselves having their hands tide. Even here on Steemit I have seen how this works. Every so often some come along and tries out a scam but they are quickly shut down by either whales, dolphins or collective minnows who wipe out their upvote earnings and destroy the reputation. They are usually never seen again. This why they call the blockchain the new internet or the internet we all hoped it would be. Blockchain is for the honest and the true, scammers and swindlers will have less and less places to use their wicked craft.
Just a thought, have you considered putting a picture with your posts ?

Thanks greatly for the thoughtful and passionate response...love the quote...

I'm old school...not a picture kinda guy...not against it...just not ready to commit time to decide how and what to do...

And I almost think my posts stand out a bit in between all the ones with the pictures...

I understand you my friend. You do things your own way, that will always work best because it is what you believe. People will sense that and respond to that truth. Keep posting my good fellow!

As Frank Sinatra sang...I did it my way...

Wonderful comment~!

nice post.

its useful. Thanks for sharing @bobreedo

Glad you enjoyed it.

True and in Spain Voting machines should run next time with Blockchain... 🇪🇸

Could be the future.

Dude you have a hand for writing, this actually touched me.. just the way you put your words!!! #Blockchain Freedom.

Great article definatly worth a resteem!

Very appreciative...thanks.

Indeed it is...check out Internet of People, they are a community building the community of the future...absolute freedom !!

There's a philosophical edge to the Blockchain, very true. And I think it's a subject that could do with a little bit more discussion. Coming back to your point about trust - yes, most users will have to trust that the algorithms are offering the security, the anonymity or democracy that they claim to be. I know I do. But working from the basis that those same algorithms are open-source, I would expect a lot of noise from the specialists if they did something else entirely. So it does require trust - but community trust, not individual trust, I think, so still something of a dramatic shift.

Sounds re assuring.

I agree with you, people really need this freedom. They are exhausted of crypto chains.

I like it...

took me more time to digest, but it okay only that the fact still remains that the more we trust the more we expose our-self, money and heart to high risk.

True...living life is a risk...

Wow ,,. !!!
