We've seen it before, many times in fact. A new technology advances a market, an industry, the world- for a time, but then a small, innovative company usurps the innovators by focusing on specific value cases and scaling them to new heights.
Think 1901 Daimler (Mercedez-Benz) vs. 1914 Ford- the application of the moving assembly line allowed Ford to meet the increasing demand for automobiles, at lower costs than Daimler, and bring the value of automobiles to new markets, thus scaling the automobile business model well beyond its initial design.
Many financial analysts have said crypto is in a speculative bubble, and as there are very few end-user use cases that start and stay in the crypto/blockchain space, the bubble is clear. However, we must remember the crypto/blockchain boat is just one in the fintech sea, and the best practices of finance and technology, even with today's PayPal and Facebook, from adoption to security, eludes many consumers.
These days, the blockchain best benefits the back-end of fintech, it's infrastructure. We hear about deals being inked between JP Morgan and ZCash, Ethereum and everyone, Bitcoin and Japan, etc. These deals and many like them, have helped to more than double the cryptocurrency market cap from about $51B last month to $111B today. But it will be the end-user and peer to peer apps that will absolutely dwarf the growth we've seen thus far.
Imagine achieving a $200B market cap in June. Where would the biggest gains be realized? Likely in several of the top 20 coins today. With the upcoming Bitcoin soft fork and potential hard fork, we may witness a redistribution of investment from Bitcoin to altcoin, adding fuel to the fomo fires and finally shifting the market from value storage in BTC to value creation in platforms, dapps and dao's.
Where will it go? Up, down, or sideways? Who knows. Personally, I think crypto/blockchain is here to stay. Brands may come and go, but I believe we're crossing a line drawn 8 years ago, and on the other side, lies the best opportunities for wealth creation the world has ever known.
Thanks for sharing the post.I don't know much about the crypto, I learned something again.
I love 'thinking BIG' posts.
