Facebook bans all ads related to cryptocurrency, ICOs, and binary options.
In a recent announcement, the world's leading social media giant, Facebook, has changed its advertising policy concerning cryptocurrency, binary options, and ICOs.
The social network has banned all cryptocurrency-related ads on its platform, saying they are “frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices”.
The ban, which includes both Facebook and Instagram, comes despite its CEO, Mark Zuckerberg recently embracing the potential advantages of cryptocurrencies. Earlier this year, he mentioned that trends like cryptocurrency “take power from centralised systems and put it back into people's hands”, and that he'd be studying their use in Facebook.
The only consolation is that Facebook claims to revisit this policy and its enforcement mechanisms in the long run, as signals improve. Meanwhile, Facebook is urging individuals to report content that violates this policy.
