After reading the article by @Kingscrown Sapphire & Asus to sell gpu cards made for cryptocurrency mining
I immediately decided to jump in and do a little research ma-sef on these new cards, as someone who is about to build a mining farm this is indeed very, very, welcome news. Staying in sub-Saharan Africa we have excess solar resources, which of course have been largely ignored by the powers that be. So we the innovators have as usual to fend for ourselves, later on we expect that the government will wake up and send the usual regulation and legislation to spoil over but for now we are oyo (on your own).
According to Newsbtc, Sapphire who manufactures GPU cards has unveiled five new cards, wow! Sapphire Unviels five new graphics cards. The cards are :
*RX 470s with 4GB of non-Samsung (11256-35-10G) or Samsung memory (11256-36-10G)
*RX 470s with 8GB of non-Samsung (11256-37-10G) or Samsung memory (11256-38-10G)
*RX 560 Pulse MINING Edition card (11267-11-10G)
*RX 470 variants offer any display outputs and
*RX 560 has a single DVI-D
Information obtained from Pascal & Polaris
Coindesk also has an article about Asus Asus anounces new graphics cards focused on cryptocurrency mining
*Mining RX 470 and
*Mining P106
It reports that Tiawan based Asus has also released some new crypto GPU cards which are designed to handle the energy and heat intensive process of mining. Probably aimed at mining cryptocurrencies since bitcoin is now mined using ASIC's mostly.
So what does Nvidia have to say about all this Nvidia to launch graphics cards specifically designed for digital currency mining. Yes you guessed right they are on top of their game, announcing their own developments soon. They plan to release eight cryptocurrency focused mining cards, hopefully soon.
Previously this year we have seen concerns about the shortages of GPU cards due to cryptocurrency mining South Africas Etherium miners are causing GPU shortage, hopefully the release of these cards will help relieve the markets.
Now what makes this news so intriguing? Well the point is that when all you can get are the fancy and pimped out versions of GPU cards, suddenly buying a card becomes a much bigger endeavour than it should be. However respite is on its way, let's see how well this new innovation is received.
