Hi fellow Steemians!
It's being reported that one of South Korea's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, Bithumb, has been hacked and approximately 35 billion won ($31 million) worth of cryptos have been stolen from the platform.
Bithumb has halted its asset deposit and withdrawal services.
Further, Bithumb has moved other assets to a cold wallet that is not accessible through the internet.
If you're a user of Bithumb, there is a small bit of positive news. Apparently the losses will be covered by the platform.
This hack is the second incident in less than two weeks in South Korea, where Coinrail - another crypto exchange in Korea - was hacked on June 10.
To be honest, not much can be done on our (customer's) side when it comes to hacking. We just have to stay vigilant.
