To my mind if you want to save+earn some money for ex. for your college you don't need to rediscover the bicycle, investing in "Monsters"(such as Metlife) is just for you, nothing new, just 3 trillions of dollars annual turnover. Make small deposits every year for 20 years(ofc parents should) and after school graduate - here you go.
