FLAG WAR? How "@haejin vs @uraDICK" is destroying steemit community being completly unpunished.

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

111.jpg

I'm quite a new member of this community. Joined just few weeks ago and put in loads of effort so far to create some good quality original content.
From the beginning Ive been following several accounts I found in the TRENDING page of the site and found that one of them belonged to a user called @haejin

I also noticed that recently there is some sort of flag war going on between this user and some other "whales".
So I decided to stay away and not get involved as I am a nobody here, especially given that I have very little experience and voting power.
Life continued and I minded my own business but still continued to follow @haejin and sometimes read his posts and upvote them.

Now, am I doing something wrong by just "reading" and "upvoting" them? I'm pretty damn sure a majority of people would say 'no you're not doing anything wrong especially since you're not involved". I'm merely in the sidelines. So why, why is @uradick downvoting me?

Is that how people behave on steemit now? Just because someone has an opinion of their own and chooses to read, follow or upvote someone, they are being punished? Seems like cyber-bullying and being a keyboard warrior is still rampant in this day and age.

Being "PUNISHED" by @uradick who is one of those who declared war to @haejin is absolutely uncalled for!

Waking up early this morning only realize that my post has been downvoted by a big whale @uradick is very discouraging. (Btw, what kind of an insulting nickname is that.. says a lot doesn't it..)

I've spent some decent amount of time creating my article. I have attracted some followers and I promoted my post. Just to be downvoted for no real reason.
Right now I've lost my rewards. Currators also lost theirs. Should that have happend? Are the so called "whales" playing GODs here? Ridiculous.

If you open @uradick profile then you will see that he never created any post but instead has a huge warring that says:

"In order to continue receiving free flags from me, continue to press the vote button for ..." @haejin
https://steemit.com/@uradick

Yesterday I've been reading a similar post written by one of my followings. And today it happend to me.

Why do you even think us regular people care about your little meaningless fight?

Why are you guys DESTROYING this place and putting new users off by your silly games?

What @uradick is doing is NOT benefiting anyone but instead bringing more HATE to steemit.

And the worst of all is that there is no place to complain. Nothing can be done. Noone is above those unregulated "steemit police forces". The problem is that this "police" act more like a GANG.

Cheers,
Piotr

Sort:
  1. uradick is far from being a whale. His size is considered a small dolphin.
  2. Judging him by what I already know about his past actions, he is good and I wish he was bigger and that there were more people like him.
  3. Unlike you, whose actions I consider comment spam, uradick has a history of downvotes against abuse and does not spam.
  4. The behavior you described is typical to berniesanders whom was a whale, and may still be, and if uradick belongs to his platoon of accounts I will be surprised so I may dwelve further into checking your accusations later.

I guess we are not on the same page. You are pretty much just telling victim of abuse (Im not the only one as I already found out) that you are supporting person who not only has awful username but also is the one being abusive. If there would be more people like him then surely steemit would only suffer. That's my view.

I used to be a boxer for a while. Im a good man and on daily basis Im helping people. Would I bash someone without a reason - would you explain to that victim that you would like more people me?

Anyway thank you for putting your time to reply.

He has a nice username.

I used to be a boxer for a while. Im a good man and on daily basis Im helping people. Would I bash someone without a reason - would you explain to that victim that you would like more people me?

It depends on the bashed person.
Far more people deserve it than you think.

I also believe that more people deserve getting beaten up. But I dont do that. It would be very easy to pick on smaller and beat them up (I consider myself small here).

But that's not the way our society seem to work and it doesnt work this way for reason. If we want to progress and move forward then bulling is not a solution.

Anyway thx one more time for your time

I believe in doing more than bashing people, and I do not do it either, because there is police, there are criminal organizations, and I am only one, have no firearm, and even if I had, I am not a skilled gunman, and even if I was, it would be only a gun and I would only be one.
But here, since the steemcleaners, adm and other policing organizations allow for people to do justice, and also to bully, it happens far more.
If I had the power, I would have done more than bash most policemen, secret agents, deep state players and their bodyguards first.
Here, people have the power to do what they want, so they do what they want, and at times, what they should.
Only the balance of power dictates the behavior.
And you act the way you do due to the same reasons like everyone else.

One more time thank you for your time to present your view. I really appreciate it a lot.

ps. would you mind telling me why do you consider my actions a comment spam? I do admit that I spent 2-4h a day on steemit reading and commenting posts but I hardly ever really use copy+paste and most comments are genuine.

Im quite new here so Im still learning and I would like to hear your opinion

ps. would you mind telling me why do you consider my actions a comment spam?

I do admit that I spent 2-4h a day on steemit reading and commenting posts

No idea how much time do you spend, and it is your right to spend as much time as you want, but this part is a lie:

but I hardly ever really use copy+paste and most comments are genuine.

Everyone can see and judge for themselves, it is a blockchain and even if you delete your comment spam, it will forever burden and pollute the blockchain and people will still be able to read it via blockchain explorers.
It makes its maintenance more expensive, and for what?
I stopped caring much about real people's upvotes, because no one except from famous people ever substantially grew this way here.
I just express myself, ask questions, try to help people once in a while, and reward myself and those that upvoted me by upvoting myself and buying votes.
Trying too hard to make a positive impression is spam for me.
This is how spammers do, and your comments section is a textbook spammer's comment section.
With a lot of copy paste, in contrary to what you stated here.

Hi
I actually do not delete comment spam.

The way I work is simple. I look for posts that are related to subject that Im interested with. For instance: crypto effect.ai

I will find several posts and read most of it and close those posts that I dont enjoy. I then write one message that could fit anyone interested with this project and copy paste it several times. And Im doing my best to change those messages almost every day.

This way I never ever leave unrelated comments. On top of that I reply and I follow + I use my upvoting power to upvote interesting content of those people.

Anyway if you disagree with my methods then I dont think Im capable of convincing you.

My goal is to get to know interesting and responsive people. Just like you. People from this industry. As I believe allowing to get to know right people would be the most important thing that steemit.

Anyway thx for your comment. I appreciate. Really

hi again

you mentioned that "people will still be able to read it via blockchain explorers."

you mind telling me how can anyone see all comments that I posted or were posted to me? Im myself using steemd.com to monitor activity on my account but perhaps there are easier ways

Find the first time the comment was posted, then click on the transaction identifier in its right side.
It took me so long to respond to you now because steemd.com while the best software I encountered, or close to it, is garbage as a service.
So I ate and did some other things.

Thank you for your kind reply.

I kind of got confused. Where should I click on mentioned the transaction identifier? Under steemit.com? or steemd?

Cheers

I was not clear enough.
When I wrote

Find the first time the comment was posted, then click on the transaction identifier in its right side.

I meant in a blockchain explorer, be it either steemd.com, steemdb.com or any true to its name blockchain explorer (netuoso's and followbtcnews' blockchain explorers are fake and provide no humanly interactive interface)

In steemd.com (if you had the luck to catch it working) you can either click on a transaction and then read its content, or not, if it is edited, or change the url by replacing the occurrence of steemit.com with steemd.com and then I you might be able to read it.

haejin has been writing many, MANY posts every day and getting huge upvotes and self upvotes for each post. There was a time a month ago when he wasmaking so much money daily that if the trend continued he would make over a million dollars a year. One of the points or purposes of being able to downvote is to give you a say on if someone is being rewarded too heavily.

Does haejin do good technical analysis? - He knows far more than I do about Elliot wave theory. He is wrong a lot too... but I read some of his posts.

Does haejin deserve to make a million dollars a year by posting 10 analysis' a day??? Many people are downvoting him because they don't think so.

There is only so much money in the 'reward pool' and many have taken on the 'duty' of defending that reward pool from abuse.

I don't agree with all of their tactics and feel that a lot of it is giving steem a fairly bad look. I also understand why they are doing it. I don't think downvoting you for liking his post is the right way to go about it... BUT... now you are learning more about the happenings here.

Don dont take me wrong. Haejin could be warned many times but Im just a newbie. Like many others here. Learning my way to build my presence on steemit and trying to figure out if this platform is going to grow bigger or will it die.

People like me should not be involved into flag wars only because we upvoted a post. They should only focus on downvoting his posts (reducing his rewards).

Definetly good thing is that Im learning. The problem is that many others will simply give up.

Thank you one more time for your support and comment.

I totally agree with you. I just wanted to fill in some blanks as to the "why" is this happening?

One more time thank you for your time and support.

It is not only @uradick that is after @haejin but also @thabiggdogg and many others. I think it may be because his analysis and signals mislead them. Also, i have noticed that @haejin posts comes with a lot of duplications but I believe it is as a result of people copying it because the votes are very low compare to what @haejin gets.

In my opinion, you should stay safe by not participating on @haejin posts but read them as they might be valuable.

There are steemit authorities that you can report to but I don't know about their action rate or response rate. Simply join steemit.chat and use the menu. Read the steemit FAQ for more.

Thx for your reply. I love that people are so supportive to yourself here.

Im aware about issue around haejin but I still dont see how targeting his followers can help this platform to grow bigger.

I will listen to your advise and I will just stay 100% away from @haejin. I dont mind. Im just wondering how many people here will lose their spirit. Not everyone is surrounded by such people willing to help the way you just did. Thx

Anyway how could I get in touch with any steemit authorities? Is there really anyone who is sharing contact details and can be emailed or contacted any other way than writing public comments?

You can find them on steemit.chat like i stated about:

There are steemit authorities that you can report to but I don't know about their action rate or response rate. Simply join steemit.chat and use the menu. Read the steemit FAQ for more.

thx for all your kind replies and support. I appreciate.

Anytime Man!

Im on steemit just few weeks but I already learned that the biggest benefit I have so far is those few valuable connections with people like you. Thanks for your constant support man

Having been here for a little longer than you. My advice is that you stay as far away from this drama as possible. As minnows, we have very little clout as you pointed out. The best you can do is continue creating good content and build up your STEEM POWER. I asked some of these questions earlier on and they have not been answered.

Good write up BTW.

Indeed you've been here much longer already and Im sure you've seen a lot.

I've been trying to stay away and I will cut myself completely from both of those users. Thank you for your advise.

You're the man. Cheers, Piotr

I dont own cellphone. I got rid 3 years ago because I realized that Im online almost always.

Is there any way to develop the community or regulate users as stated? What exactly does the flag button do; is it a negative upvote? Do the witnesses control what happens to the future of steemit? These are just a few questions that may have simple answers but it seems like many steemins are repping the conflicts and this place is being destroyed which puts new users off since these influential whales asare not being punished.

Im not very sure if there is any chance that we could develop the community that way. Im not sure if steemit will be really better than facebook. Giving "power to people" doesnt seem to work well if those "people" are not supervised and monitored.

Once someone will flag you then you're receiving downvote. Which means pretty much that if you received rewards from other curators then part of those rewards will be decrased (destroyed).

Thx for your comment Colton

Im on steemit just few weeks but I already learned that the biggest benefit I have so far is those few valuable connections with people like you. Thanks for your constant support man

Wow, @crypto.piotr, I'm so sorry to hear such crap has hit you too. This relates somewhat to what happened to me, which I posted as best I could at the time on Steemit's Malicious @steemcleaners downvote ATTACKS which revealed a whole lot more in my limited interactions with those behind the veil of @steemcleaners and the entire system that I am considering doing a part 2 to share all the faults and really stupid ways around some of the issues. He gave me permission to share what he shared with me too.

I still say that one of the main flaws in this steem system is the monetary downvote flags and, as unfortunate as it is, your story illustrates that so perfectly too.

I just hope this wont be permanent and I got flagged only once. I understand that mistakes do happend and I need to do my best to separate myself from supporting both users.

This is their war. Not mine.

I read your post and I would recommend it to anyone who is ever reading this comment (except of both of us). Do you think anyone else ever will? :)

You summarized it very well. I would say "brilliant" but Im afraid that I would sound to British :)

Cheers, Piotr

Yeah, that's your best bet - just stay out of their fight. There is so much rampant greed and jealousy running wild here.

On my post it was actually trending some and got 125 people to read. And given the replies both there and elsewhere in direct, I think more still may read it too to follow the outcome. And if you are curious some of the things suggested to me by the @steemcleaners Editor-in-Chief censor, I've added a bit more under some of the comments, which will probably blow you away too at the level steem has fallen to. It really is sad to see such insanity.

Ive lost you. You added comments where? to your previous post about @steemcleaners?

In the comments under the themarkymark comment thread (under your last comment there). I shared some of my conversation with @guiltyparties (the guy pulling the strings of @steemcleaners). In a nutshell, to not have the same problem again and use any of my stock photo collection normally, he suggests the first option that I find the pics on another site, who may have even stole it (probably from me years ago), to link to as source. In essence encouraging the very fraud they are supposedly working to stop, because so many have gone ballistic here on steemit now flagging and reporting to @steemcleaners posts they think are abusing the system and steemcleaners automatically goes and nukes. Yeah, I know it gives me a headache to think about the level of stupidity to advise someone to encourage the very thing they are trying to stop just to trick the system...

Im on steemit just few weeks but I already learned that the biggest benefit I have so far is those few valuable connections with people like you. Thanks for your constant support man

Thanks, @crypto.piotr! I really appreciate the connection too with you and a few others.

Thx. I just read it.It's hard not to agree with you. What you wrote above is completly insane.

Yeah it's driving me insane... LOL

Just to let you know someone else is reading this,
I'm pretty new to steemit so I'm just finding out about how it's established if something is plagiarized, seems to be a flawed system

Wow. I must admit that you surprissed me.

Indeed that is what I choosed to do. To stay away from this conflict. But somehow trouble found me and I hope that this post can help me find solution. Im sure many others had similar experiences and perhaps someone knows someone who knows someone capable of helping :)

I decided to check your profile just to realize that we seem to share a number of interests :)

Nice to hear that :)
Isaiah 40:29-31 29He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Wow, that's really discomforting to learn, that even from the sideline you can be dragged into such whale-wars.

I only hope that it was just one time thing and Im not accidently considered "related" to any of those fighting whales.

Cheers buddy, thx for your reply

@crypto.piotr I would say simply stay away from them instead contribute quality content to the community and be happy 😃

I believe people are not fool here they know who is good or bad so just forget about it and relax 👍🏻👍🏻

I stopped following @haejin because it does not bring any value to the platform and my feed is better since then.

After this little "adventure" I will stop following him too. I also agree that his posts do not bring much value and I realized that Im not even reading any of it now.

Great post Piotr. Why does there have to be any sides? It is really discouraging to see these childish flag wars. Much less get caught in the middle of one. Childish and envious behavior. Upvoted and resteemed.

Im on steemit just few weeks but I already learned that the biggest benefit I have so far is those few valuable connections with people like you. Thanks for your constant support man

It has been a pleasure getting to know you.

I agree with you, Piotr! I haven't been flagged by any whale so far, but this is not the point - you are absolutely right that in order for steemit to be a success, something has to be done about these silly flag wars. Whether Haejin makes a lot of money for his posts or not is irrelevant - you, me, or anyone else has the right to choose what to like, or dislike (which is totally different from flagging someone just because he likes something you don't as is the case with the above-mentioned individual). Only in brutal dictatorships the more powerful can tell what ANYONE can like or do, without being punished. Seems like steemit is no different...It is a pity, because the idea of rewarding good posts and comments is quite good and could possibly attract new members outside of the crypto world. It is also a pity that new members such as yourself care more about the platform than some of the whales (most probably older users) and probably even the team behind steemit. Unfortunately, these words and my little upvote are the only thing I can help you with. Cheers!

hi buddy

thank you for such a rich reply. I decided to stay away from that mess and hopefully trouble will not find me again :)

I just checked your profile just to realize that we seem to share a number of interests :)

In particular that we both share a similar passion towards cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology :)

I noticed that you have very little steem power. Didnt you consider investing a little bit and buying steem?

Take care and good luck, I will be following you closely

Hi again!
This is probably the best one can do for the moment -to stay away from it.
Yeah, I am into cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. With some cryptos I only speculate but there are definitely coins that I support and believe they solve real problems - Nexus, Ark , for example.
As for your question concerning steem, I might eventually buy some steem and increase my steem power, maybe will even become more active with my posts, which so far are a big zero :) For the moment though I am mostly an observer, who comments from time to time :)
I followed you, you sound like a cool person and we share some interests, so that's good enough for me.
Cheers, mate!

I think like anything it's a balance between freedom of speech, and a community needing some self-regulation to avoid abuse. There needs to be some big whales who understand the ecosystem and platform in order to provide some level of administration. Not all whales may be a force for good all the time mais... c'est la vie!

the problem with current whales is that there is noone to regulate them.

imagine that you would be ruled by goverment that is above the law only because can afford to be

Thx for your comment ade.

Cheers

hmm, well it's a social platform, so the trend should go that if they promote negativity then they start to lose power by gaining more flags from angry minnows or fellow whales. .. it's interesting ,

Thank you for your kind reply mate

angry minnows cannot really do much to a whale. He can flag 10 minnows a day with 100% voting power and bring their reputation close to zero (that's just happend to my friend who made some whale angry by criticizing him).

Also would you mind checking my last post and sharing your opinion in regard to asked quetion: "Will crypto and blockchain divide humanity?". Im very curious what's your view on that issue.

Cheers, Piotr

No pressure of course,

that thought has already crossed my head, there are people using their power to harm others using only their sometimes deviant judgment, I think the accounts that are dedicated to "clean" the content should have more than one criterion, we do not always have the truth in our hands, the human is not perfect, so if you are going to damage someone else's work you must have the certainty that it is the right thing to do, that is why those accounts should have a group of people who judge before voting negatively, your input is very good, it is a reality that affects a lot and people who can help turn a blind eye !!

Thanks for your comment. I honesly didnt expect that you will check my profile. You're totally right. Unfortunatelly steemit is full of "local warlords".

Perhaps we could follow each other too?
