The latest news for today is that Verge is going to be halved going forward. This entails the mining of the coins will be twice as difficult now and will take twice as long. There will be less in circulation which should have a knock on affect with the price. This happened with Bitcoin a while ago and it didn't go up straight away but did go up soon afterwards. BTC halves its mining every four years so it is fairly common amongst the coins.
We will have to wait and see what this does to the price of Verge over the next few months. I expect it to go up consistently now till the end of the year.
