You raise valid apprehensions about the fact that IOTA may not be able to drive consensus adoption. But this is a fast paced digital world and one who lags behind suffers in a competitite market and is at risk of obsolescence.
These MNC's you spoke about may well form their own alliances and form their own crypto but all that takes away precious time in development and testing. IOTA by then may well a proven solution for the IOT industry and simple adoption is required as it is zero transaction fees.
However, what remains to be seen is how does monetization of IOTA occur? Do companies have to hold IOTA tokens to transact. I guess, they will and that might mean sustained demand.
