As you all might of seen Katy Perry did the crypto world a solid last Thursday (25/1) when she posted on Instagram her nails all done up in different Crypto's.

Considering the legion of followers she has throughout her social media platforms it is fantastic positive media for all of us in the crypto game.
When celebrities like her do this their followers see it and it gets media attention. People that are not into crypto but are into Katy Perry might now check it out. They may even chat about what Katy did to their friends generating potential for further interest, it can just snowball from there.

We need all the new money into crypto we can get so that Market Cap can start creeping back up to the Trillion Dollar mark and beyond. Especially all you Ripple, Verge, Stellar, Tron, Fun to name a few, holders. Those coins all have very high total and circulating supplies so need a much larger Market Cap overall if they are to ever achieve double digit and beyond prices.

There is also something else important about Katy's Photo and the attention it has gotten.

I was particularly happy to see Stellar get included in the Katie Perry nail action as I am holding a bunch of those

That is more female attention on the crypto currency space.

To achieve that greater Market Cap for crypto currency and even for the Blockchain to be the future platform of business's we need more woman involved. Whether they are Bitcoin/Alt Coin investors or entrepreneurs starting their business' on the Blockchain.
We just need more ladies in the crypto currency space and embracing the Blockchain technology, period.
There is no reason why this can't happen as this is not some physical sporting arena where males have a biological advantage. This is a completely even playing field for both genders.

A stat that really surprised is surveys from 2016-2017 showed that %85-%90 of Bitcoin holders were male.
A similar stat for Alt Coins investment. Estimates of %85 male. This is way too lop sided and not healthy for the whole industry.

The Tech industry as a whole is still largely male dominated so no wonder this has a flow on affect into crypto currency and I'd like to see that all change.

This is where Katy Perry's simple photo helps as she is undoubtedly seen as a powerful female role model.
I am thrilled to see someone like her promoting crypto and I hope she inspires many, many more female celebrities to do similar.

Seeing this Katy Perry photo is not the only inspiration for this article. I also had an interesting conversation with a female friend who now works in I guess you would call it the Electrical or Media Department of a large Australian store similar to the Walmart's of the USA.

I got a real life example of the gender divide.
So I was in this department store which had a huge section for gaming computers, phones, laptops, tv's you name it.
I recognised a girl working there who I used to work with 6 months or so ago.
I had a question about the different types of headphones as I have a 10 year old desperate for them for his Playstation so the timing of the encounter was perfect.
When I asked her for some technical advice (this was important as my young fella adamant they need to be good because the wrong ones affect background noise in the game or something) she was terrific, she launched into explaining what my boy means by that and what I need to look for in headphones.

I was naturally grateful for her knowledge on them, I felt a lot more certain I had the right one now and that the little guy was going to be a happy camper when I got home.

Since she knew so much about all this stuff I double downed and explained how my eldest son really wants a gaming computer but will be saving up a long time. I joked that I might go halves with him and use it to do a little coin mining on the side since they are so powerful and all.

She then went into all the specs for gaming PC's what my boy should look for in one etc etc
I was grateful for her explanation as I am not the most technical of people and I commented something along the lines of "wow you must kicking butt in this new job."
I then noticed a frown come over her face. She explained she likes it and all but it can be a little frustrating.

She explained that in her electronics/media department, %90 of the time a customer will only ever approach her for help if there is absolutely no male staff members free. She said she often has to approach a customer herself while they choose to wait for a male staff member and encourage them to ask her what they need.

She said it doesn't seem to matter how well she answers customers questions in this instance as you can bet your bottom dollar the customer still double checks it all with a male staff member afterwards!
Interestingly, she also said it is not just male customers that have this gender bias. Some female customers do the exact same thing.
Its 2018 for Gods sake!

Lily Allen tweeted that 5 years ago she was offered 100's of thousands of Bitcoins to live stream a gig. She turned it down. We all have Bitcoin regret don't we, oh if only we could see the future

I read that the latest research is now showing around %30 females enrolment in courses in the Tech industry so the divide is shrinking albeit slowly. %30 is still not great by any stretch of the imagination.

So while strong female influences like Katy Perry can help fast track this divide, us as authors and readers on Steemit also have the collective power to influence change as well.

We can ensure we upvote female authors when they have a go at submitting articles on crypto or anything else related.
If you get something out of reading it or just enjoy it, make sure you let them know in comments.
We all like to receive positive feedback male or female as it reinforces what we are doing is good and worthwhile.

We need to be going out of our way to be welcoming and positive to existing or new female authors as their voices are going to be very important in helping our crypto currency community grow. The bigger it gets the more we all benefit no matter the coin you like. (Well maybe not Paccoin but all the others).

If you happen to be a female reading this that does write about crypto please let me know in comments so I can follow you! (on steemit that is, not in a creepy stalky way).

Thank you for reading

great! now all we need is more new people to blindly put money in XVG and TRX to drive the price back up just to dissapoint everyone again :P

hahaha, oh god that is so true. I would really welcome that. Verge was the first coin I ever bought and Tron came soon after. Sigh
Just hoping for them to somehow climb somewhere over 20c so I can farewell them

hahaha i gladly got rid of my verge at 27 cent and my trx at 18. i have never been so glad to sell something in my life! Justin Sun in my eyes is driving TRX into the ground. your bio said altcoin hoarder so deffinately giving you a good follow hahaha

your a smart man! yeah alt coin hoarder definitely, hoard them too dam long and I totally agree with you on Justin Sun. Their road map gives me some hope but if they get to 20c i not sticking around thats for sure.
