Please share this with anyone in the #crypto space. Let this be a lesson for everyone out there. If needed, i will also share a "how I did it", as an advice on what not to do. Please don't tell me I was stupid, I know :-(, I walked a hard and painful path so others hopefully don't have to. I would greatly appreciate it if you share my unfortunate story!
Subject: Open letter to the person who #Phished me and emptied my account.
Dear #Hacker,
I must admit that I somehow admire your hacking skills, nevertheless I would like you to know the damage you have caused with your #phishing #scam.
You have stolen from a couple of small players like myself, not from a big corporate. You have NOT stolen from a number, a wallet or an algorithm but you stole from real people, people with dreams who could have been your mother, father, sister or next-door sweetheart. In my case, you stole from someone who decided to become a teacher instead of chasing the big money.
You stole from someone who was stupid and naive enough to think this would never happen to him, who thought the new world is a good place where we all can thrive.
I was just about to get super passionate about the new world the new hackers are creating, a world where we are all equal and which does not care about your color, nationality or religion. A world where new #ecosystems grow to support people like you and me, not the big corporates.
I invested in great projects like @eosio, holo (HoloChain), DENT, Polymath, SocialX and @vechain, and you took it all. I invested to hold, to support the hackers who are hacking economies and markets and who give the power back to people like you and me. I invested to support the people that are shaping our future, one of equality, peace and freedom.
I love what they do, because they do it for all of us.
Now you decided to hack my account and steal for approximately $22k worth of tokens from my #ethereum #wallet via #MetaMask. With that you do not only steal money or tokens, you steal dreams, you steal a future and you steal the love for what the other hackers, the ones hacking the world's systems, create.
You steal from the great leaders such as @vitalik-buterin, Dan Larimer @dantheman, and Arthur Brock and all the other great developers and hackers of the various other incredible projects out there. They are all working towards a fantastic goal, improving the world as we know it. And yes you also stole from someone who wanted to use this money to pursue his dreams, a dream that now will not come true for a long-long time.
Please don't tell me it is my own fault, I know that by now. It is a hard lesson, I got caught by a highly skilled professional hacker who aims to destroy peoples lives. It is such a waste of talent if you ask me, you could be like the other real-world-hackers who hack economies, systems, pretty much everything to make the world a bit better.
You stole from this address: 0xFb4e26688169965385B3E34F1e15F851f283AD92. Though I don't expect much from you, even if you sent back 50% of what you stole, you would make a positive contribution..
If there is anyone out there interested in “righting” a “wrong” please feel free to share this message, and if you’d like to support feel free to send a small amount of one of the tokens that was stolen from me on below address. Anything that is sent more than what was stolen from me will be shared with other victims. That is a promise I can make and you can hold me accountable for.
My new address: 0xa3500d391bcb9df4cbfe1e760065cbe0e4a94e70
With love for the people building our future!
UPDATE
I have received quite a bit of positive and supportive response on this via different channels. A member of the Netherlands based Follow Coin (https://followcoin.io/) even donated some of his FLLW coins!
I still hope that there are some social hackers out there who can get this person to stop ruining peoples lives.
Some people asked me how it happened, well this is what I think happened.
I think I clicked on either a fake IDEX link or on a fake EtherDelta link. During the HOLO ICO, their Telegram got spammed with links to new exchanges, it is very likely that a bad link was shared there and that I clicked on it while having my MetaMask still on.
It really happened in no-time and it was all over before I knew it. Please double check the links you click on, only open MetaMask when you are 100% confident that all is safe and keep your tokens on a Ledger or Trezor (I expect mine soon).
Thank you for warning us newbies on what not to do!
