It does seem like people have been deeply trained in that way. I have travelled all over the world, and I am still amazed by how many people from the US don't even think (for all intents and purposes) that currencies other than US Dollars are "real."

Their thinking is limited by their experience, or lack of experience! When you are in the middle of a village that only transacts in their native currency, and there are no currency conversion counters within miles, that is a real problem! 😉
