Mining Rig: 2 || The motherboard fiasco

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

The first choice was H170 PC Mate, msi make; but it had a slight problem. Note the encircled part of the board. This comprises of the 16x and 1x slots that are used to connect the heart of the system, the graphics cards.
The 1x systems are connected to through a riser cable which converts the 1x slot to 16x. The riser cable are to be bought separately through a e-commerce sight or an electronic store of your choice. The riser cable is shown bellow; it is connected to a 16x chip set via USB cable and powered through the SMPS. It is preferable to use the wires of the SMPS system itself instead of the ones sent with the riser cable.

The parts are encircled because of the distance between the slots. The premium cards manufacture by AMD or NVIDIA is a complete box which includes the card and cooling system, as well as a front and back cover. This increases the width of the component. Hence, when on 16x slot is used to count the graphics card the other 1x slot gets completely covered by it, the only way of using the cards then is by restricting them to just four.

RISER CABLE

The mining process is a complex process and the number of graphics cards is directly proportional to the profit, hence choose a motherboard where there are more than eight 1x and 16x slots to accomodate maximum number of cards. Addition is possible in the future as well. Why not invest well!

There is one other way to increase the number of cards on a given motherboard, to know stay tuned.
