Databits is the unique cryptocurrency used in the Augmentors game. These Databits are backed by the Bitcoin Blockchain, ensuring players that they will truly own these Databits (DTB). Owners of Databits (DTB) can use them on the blockchain to purchase other cryptocurrencies, and once the game has been released will be able to use their Databits to purchase creatures, relics and skins. Databits (DTB) can be traded on Bittrex.
Forged by the great powers of augmented reality and blockchain technologies, Augmentors puts you in control of fantastical creatures. Collect an army of powerful and rare creatures as you battle, train, sell and trade them. You, oh Heroic One, will become the greatest Augmentors player in the augmented reality world.
Every single creature in your legion has its own unique history, its own past, and all of its lore is stored in the blockchain.
Augmentors is backed by the Blockchain. Each creature and relic is assigned a unique ID. Creatures and relics will each be issued in finite amounts that will be locked, assuring no more will be issued in the game. Once they are all sold, that’s it! All Asset IDs will be transparent and viewable to the public, showing issued amounts and the locked status of each asset. You can trade or sell your creatures with other players in the app or through the online Creature Store.
FIRST SHARK TANK DEAL DONE IN BITCOIN
Shark Tank was the first major platform to recognise the potential of Augmentors. South African entrepreneur and proponent of Bitcoin, with a hand in the growth of Gyft, Yola and now blockchain startup Civic, Vinny Lingham, offered 500,000 ZAR (59 Bitcoins at the time) for 20% of the business. He was joined by fellow judge, Gil Oved, the co-CEO of Africa’s largest advertising agency, The Creative Counsel, and board member of South Africa’s second-biggest venture capital company, Grotech.
“The problem you’re trying to solve around creating rarity… can better be solved by using the bitcoin blockchain.” Vinny explained he was given confidence in his investment by the success of games like Spells of Genesis, a trading card game that integrates a blockchain-based token. The Augmentors team has recently had a great strategic workshop with Vinny Lingham, one of the original investors. The session has confirmed that Augmentors is on the right track and identified a number of new features that will make a big positive impact in the game.
The big talking points around the Augmentors table: basic game mechanics, Databit (DTB) utility and economy, and the development roadmap.
Vinny is an equity investor. He stays in contact with the team to discuss tech and assist with product strategy and roadmaps. He also monitors delivery progress against the plan and provides guidance to correct where necessary. He is also mentoring Kyle and Michael on the nuances of being a tech entrepreneur.
Vinny and his partner, Llew Claasen, have an angel investment and venture capital firm, Newtown Partners, based in the same offices as Augmentors. Newtown Partners assists Augmentors with many of the day-to-day activities associated with running a startup such as operations, marketing and legal.
